Synopsis

Colette is the only doctor in her village and has earned the trust of many. However, an overwhelming amount of work has left her exhausted and desperate for a break. Wanting to discover a place where her heart could be at peace, she jumps into a well.

Colette wakes up and finds herself in the Land of the Dead, ruled by the god Hades—who is in charge of judging the souls of the demised. But Hades has fallen ill, causing his servants to beg Colette to treat him. Unable to ignore their demands and Hades' condition, it is up to Colette and her skills to look after the man and help him return to his duties as the Lord of the Dead.

Colette Decides to Die is a very cute manga series with a slightly misleading title. The title may make you think this story could be on the darker side, but in reality it is incredibly cute, wholesome, and rather calm in terms of plot. It almost feels like a sweet slice of life, following the daily adventures of the young heroine and many other characters.

Colette Wants to Die is a romance set in ancient Greece, between the titular Colette and the Greek God Hades. Despite its title, is a very heartwarming manga, that possibly fits into the "healing" genre, for having very little conflict despite the fact that as one of the protagonists is in fact the mythological Hades, it of course also deals with death. Colette is a doctor so overworked she jumps into a well out of misplaced desperation, and ends up in the underworld, where she discovers that Hades himself needs a doctor's care.
