Light Novel 'Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes' Receives Anime Adaptation

Publishing company TO Books announced an anime adaptation of Firehead's Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes: Kyuuketsuki no Kizoku ni Tensei shita kedo Suteraresou nanode Dungeon wo Seiha suru (Mercedes and the Waning Moon: The Dungeoneering Feats of a Discarded Vampire Aristocrat) light novel on Thursday.

Firehead originally began writing the adventure fantasy novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in October 2018. TO Books began printing the series featuring illustrations by KeG (Gaikotsu Kishi-sama, Tadaima Isekai e Odekakechuu) in May 2021 and released the third volume in February 2022. The fourth volume is going on sale digitally on August 15.

A manga adaptation by Pochi Edoya (Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku manga) began on the Corona EX website in August 2021. TO Books published the fourth volume in September 2024, with the fifth volume also planned for an August 15 release.

J-Novel Club licensed both the light novel and manga in English for digital release in November 2024 and released the second novel volume on June 18, with the third novel volume scheduled to be released on September 22. The third manga volume was released on June 11.

Synopsis
Reincarnated as a vampire to a noble father and his shunned concubine, Mercedes Grunewald has always known that one day, her father will choose an heir that isn't her. But what will become of her family when that time comes? Her mother has no skills, their maid is old, and Mercedes is but a small child. How will they survive in the world on their own? Luckily, dungeon crawling is a job that anyone can do—even a child. To provide for her family, Mercedes begins training at the age of a kindergartener, and because she's from a nation of vampires, she fortunately has the potential to become strong. Seems somewhat interesting given the dungeon crawling aspect, but from the synopsis I'm not sure about the whole re-incarnation thing. It kind of sounds like something that was slapped onto the story because the editor thought it would help it sell more units.
