Trying to get back into anime after really not watching any in college. There's a lot of things commonly seen in anime that I dislike, and I've never been the biggest fan of anime in general, but the few I enjoyed I REALLY enjoyed. Just a casual anime watcher here, no more, no less. I'm not gonna pretend like I know much about the Japanese language and culture because I honestly don't. Feel free to message me whenever you want! I'm open to talking with anyone, regardless of their interests, personal beliefs or self-identification. I love reading, writing, outdoorsy stuff (hiking, kayaking, you name it), classic Disney animation, exercise, hockey, dark beer, and just chatting with folks. My favorite shows of all time are Cowboy Bebop, Daredevil, Boardwalk Empire, Deadwood, & The Wire.
If a series is a 4 or lower to me chances are I won't finish it or bother putting it on my list. I tend to gravitate towards darker, more mature shows and equally enjoy both dubbed and subbed anime.

*Balto is a childhood favorite movie of mine, to nobody's surprise. MAMBO

Alas I digress. Glad to know you also appreciated Tenma struggling to balance his duty as a doctor with his (im)moral responsibility to end Johan. Cheers mate!
Also if I recall correctly Gillen was psychiatrist character and Tenma's classmate in med school right? If so, I loved his backstory.
And look at you, already more than 1/4 the way through! Hehe
Oof, sorry I don't remember these interactions very well so I can't say much about them. Roberto was one of those next-in-line antagonists after Johan that also made it really far into the anime. Who did he order to shoot Nina? I also find that strange....
I recall him being an interesting character because he idolizes Johan to the point of almost being delusional but that's about all I can remember... sorry
Is the kid Dieter? He becomes quite interesting later too c:
Looks like you're making good progress on Monster (ep 10 already!), hope the show is still living up to your expectations ^^
Too bad it never went on Netflix </3
Monster is definitely a 'slow burn' if anything, I'm sure you'll enjoy watching everything unfold. I might not remember the specifics of what happened, but yes, definitely let me know of your thoughts! c:
Glad you're enjoying Monster so far! And I have to agree with you: everything about the show, in my opinion, can be described as 'haunting.' There aren't any plot gimmicks, magical elements, etc., everything - Tenma's injustice, internal politics, and later Johan behavior - could have just as easily been realistic accounts of events transpired in real life. All the characters also stay consistent with their tropes that complements each other as the show progresses.
I've always wanted to watch The Wire but I haven't found a place to watch it. Too bad it's not on netflix :(
My friend showed me the 'fuck fuck fuck' crime scene reaction and I instantly got interested in the show haha!
Hopefully I'll find somewhere to download and watch it in the future. c':
And yes I'm so excited you're watching Monster! The beginning is great is mostly just building up its characters. Once you get to episode ~20 that's when things really start rolling pretty quickly. Definitely let me know what you think!
I remembered binging through all 72 episodes in 3-4 days myself haha.
