If you wanna see all of my rates I have my Letterboxd link here.
Hope you enjoy Kakugo! It's one of the most creative manga I've read by far! Yamaguchi knows how to illustrate the most grotesque things in the most beautiful ways. The tokusatsu influences were cool to see as well, naturally! As for Gash, it's a manga that holds a lot of sentimental value to me. I read it during a very crucial point in my life and its messages really struck a chord with me when I needed it the most. Makoto Raiku is one of the best to ever do it! And apparently he was an assistant to Kazuhiro Fujita during the serialization of Karakuri Circus, so there's really a whole lineage of greatness there!
Nice to see Pop and Masaru in your faves. Digimon Savers is my favorite season of Digimon! I also feel it's the one the least amount of people have seen, since the majority of kids grew out of Digimon as it was coming out. It's a shame, though, because it's really excellent! Masaru's brotherly bond with Agumon brings a manly tear to my eye every time... and Bancho Leomon was really cool as well!
Man, you should. Dare to say that sometimes I think it's better than European or American metal punk. But, the Japanese music scene isn't talked about much because most songs are in Japanese or engrish. Check out G.I.S.M., frontman Sakevi Yokoyama was a madman.
Souvlaki is excellent too, but I listen to Loveless way more. Type O was one of the first doom/"sound like Sabbath bands I heard. Loved them since freshman year and they're one of dad's favorites. Do you like any Japanese punk or metal?
I like MBV, though I'm not the biggest fan of shoegaze. I found out about Curve because Peter Steele of Type O Negative cited them as an influence and said it's "sexy music" LMAO.
I get ya. I love Maiden and Priest too obviously lol. Metal and rock aren't the only music I like. Curve is one of my all-time favorites, it's like a shoegaze/dream pop mix. I recommend them. There was a time when Curve was all I listened to. It drove my family nuts, lmao.
Awesome!! I love self-titled and all the other Sabbath albums with Dio and Tony Martin as well. Wicked World from the first album is just a start-up jam. I also might be in the minority, but I love the later Ozzy albums like Ozzmosis and Down to Earth. I even remember when I Don't Want to Stop was dropped on the radio for Black Rain.
Exactly. Chris's passing also hit me hard. I heard Slaves and Bulldozers in 2015, and man, it was just so crushing. In the case of Layne, he knew he'd pass, reading the lyrics off of Dirt, it was all about his heroin addiction. What's your favorite Sabbath album and favorite Ozzy album? For Sabbath, it's Master of Reality, and for Ozzy's solo, it's No More Tears.
Honestly, I don't think we will get through it necessarily. We'll just have to live knowing that he's gone. But, we can always celebrate him, not only with his music, but also celebrate him as a person, a father, a husband, a brother, a son, a friend, a legend.
Yeah man. His and Anthony Bourdain’s passings have made me cry the hardest. Seeing the funeral on Wednesday were Sharon, Aimee, Jack, and Kelly were all there crying. Honestly man, it feels as if I lost a best friend or a family member. I’ve been jamming nothing but Sabbath and Oz’s solo work 24/7. I hope him and Randy are together and jamming wherever they are.
I really enjoyed Ashita no Joe 2. It feels different but I think both are really amazing shows. I was watching Rose of Versailles and was surprised the same studio made Joe 2 just a few months later. I found this out because I heard some of the same music and sound effects as in Joe 2 and was confused haha. Fist of the North Star really interests me.
Thanks for the request, and same to you! Although I just roughly glanced the first arc, the 2020 Adventure of Dai is a really good show, so I see why it'd be a favorite of yours. Been meaning to start City Hunter and Digimon.
Thanks!! Yours is just as epic! Yes they are indeed, Otokojuku is just the manliest show ever haha, nice pick. I hope you like Saint Seiya, one of my all time favorites, one of those classics you have to check it out for sure!
I have to watch City Hunter man, I'm pretty sure that is right up my alley, keep rocking!!
