While the first anime I ever watched was most likely "Pokémon" as a child, "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" is the TV show that kickstarted my fandom in anime late in to my teens during 2013. Since then I have dedicated majority of my time to furthering my anime capacity.
I'm open to watching anime of any genre for as long as I feel invested in the characters, story, setting, themes and atmosphere. That said, I do love anime that focus on life lessons, thus those concerning coming-of-age stories and social commentary. Also, I find excessive usage of fan-service and/or clichés to be intrusive where it's unsuited.
