Hello there

Hello there

As with most people, my first anime were Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and a faint memory of Digimon. Not having the luxury of cable, I only saw maybe one or two episodes of Dragon Ball and Gundam Wing on Toonami when I was at a friend's house.

By late 2007, the channel AnimeCentral became available in the United Kingdom and I watched first anime I could say I was really into; Full Metal Alchemist (2003), Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Cowboy Bebop and most of all; Planetes. Sadly, Anime Central, a British channel dedicated to anime, is now defunct.

Elsewhere, my entry into the mecha genre was through the Transformers franchise. Although I grew up in the eras of Beast Wars, Car Robots and Unicron Trilogy, I was more interested in G1 via the second-hand G1 toys and VHS tapes from my cousin. So probably, the first mecha anime I watched was Transformers: Micron Legend (aka Transformers Armada). I also had Neon Genesis Evangelion and Bubblegum Crisis on VHS but I don't really remember their plots (until rewatching them) as the tapes only included the first several episodes.

Later, I got hold of the hilariously bad English dubs of Transformers: The Headmasters on VHS, soon I decided to find the original Japanese versions of the Headmasters, and Unicron Trilogy online, from there I researched Takara Brave Series and started watching Brave Police J-Decker, realizing this was animated by a studio famous for mecha, I decided to watch their Magnum Opus; UC Gundam series, although I saw SEED previously on Anime Central, I didn't really care for it since I was much more hooked on Cowboy Bebop and Planetes; my first time watching SEED and comprehending it would be the HD Remaster that was streamed for free on Gundam Info. From Gundam, I got into Macross and the rest of the mecha and space opera genres of anime.

My first Macross series was Plus, I exclaimed in joy the first time I found Macross Plus Ultimate Edition (Manga UK's bundle of the OVA and movie together) at a bargain in CeX.

Am I correct in assuming you're well-versed in tokusatsu? Could you give me some advice on Kamen Rider and Super Sentai?

Sounds like a description of the German army/politics of the 1930s

So, after both Z/ZZ, I'll only have to watch Char's Counterattack before moving on to Gundam Gquuuuuux?

So Stardust emphasizes that Zeon is not homogeneous and how different groups can influence the nation due to differences in heritage? Anyway, I'm planning to start Zeta in a few days, it seems doesn't have to many spin-offs and is going straight into a second season, so at least 100 episodes in total?

So, the tragedy of Gato is that he is a capable idealistic warrior who fell victim to the political manipulation of his country's government? Frankly, it was intriguing to see that of the three main characters from Zion side, only the cynical and duplicitous Shima ultimately abandoned the idea, albeit for purely pragmatic reasons. Was Tomino trying to say that idealism makes people blind?

I'm almost done watching Stardust, by the way. Is it just me, or are they really making Zeon more and more sympathetic and deep as U.C. goes on?

I finally want to finish Stardust so I can move on to Zeta TV series, but it feels a bit formulaic after the previous good spin-offs. Or am I just not in the best places yet? I'm on episode 5 now.

I see. I appreciate the amount of interesting backstory for many of the characters in the original show, but I felt it was a bit over the top to make Char so important to the events of the universe. It does a great job of developing his motivations and character arc, but now Amuro's story itself looks like a spin-off against the backdrop of his adventure. Although even against his background, Lalah's character seems the most diverse. Here she seems to be a more mature and lively person than in original or GQ.

So, calling this a complete fanfic based on the original series would be a mistake and there are actually things here that were at least planned during the original series?

I'm a little confused. Is Origin a direct continuation of Tomino's original ideas for the franchise's lore, or is it some kind of retroactive tweak? Because some of the moments I've seen in the show so far have drastically changed the emphasis or context of many of the events or even the personalities of the characters in the original show. I'm especially interested in the attempts to turn Char into someone in between Light and Lelouch. Even before they were created, hehe.

I can't put into words how excited I am for the new Macross, definitely my most anticipated show. It'll be interesting to see how Sunrise handles it.

It was better than I thought it would be. I've seen some people spoil the game on X and other places, but I haven't seen too many people spoil the game this time because the officials have issued a warning not to spoil too much. There are some threads on the internet, such as 2channel, where people who have seen the movie discuss it, though.

Ahhhh, there are those. People who want to share pamphlets and such! Not so many here, but I see people from overseas who do it sometimes. Sometimes, in MAL's work threads, there are vicious people who spoil the work without using the spoiler button...

Incidentally, some people were spoiled by the plastic model of the Gundam of this work, so I think it is better to avoid the topic of the plastic model until you have seen the work.

The advance screening didn't announce when the TV anime would start, by the way. I thought February was early....

I finally finished watching the TV series of W last month. I've already watched Endless Waltz a few times because it has short episodes and I like it.
Right now I'm watching the 00 TV series at a slower pace, I don't think I've seen 0080 yet, but maybe I will soon.

お誕生日おめでとうございますのメッセージ、ありがとう!
