PFP: Kino from "Kino's Journey" - (2003 version)
Hello, my name is Sy (pronounced as "Sai"). I initally created this MAL acc to track the anime i watched and manga i've read in one area. I found that MAL does it nicely but i do prefer some features on Anitlist to be better. I am an avid media consumer and like most things so i try to indulge myself in them! Media consumption is one of my profound hobbies, even if its not considered one.
For anime, I've been watching since i was quite young, and now i watch it casually when i have the time. Haven't been very active in it. In retrospect, i only found out about manga around my teen years, as i started reading webtoons. One of my "hot takes", is that as an avid reading disliker, (im not a fan), is that any written medium is usually superior to animation or live television shows versions. When it comes to anime and movies its almost always better.
Rating System:
When i complete a show ill usually rate it right away, but my opinions always change once a while has passed and I've had time to think about that animanga. I dont like changing the ratings sometimes since I'm forgetful, or nostalgic about the rating.
Though If rated 6 it can be better than something i rated a 8, rating doesn't qualify for how i feel or sometimes ill rate depending on what i feel that piece of media deserves.
+ They always change

Hmm, I see. Well I made that joke, since I sometimes see YouTube videos about Akame Ga Kill with titles like "the anime that kills it's cast" or something like that. I wonder how many mainstream weebs think that Akame Ga Kill is one of few kill off so many characters, when they are much more lurking around in the abyss....
Eh, I didn't think my joke was funny. But if you found it funny, then I shall salute you.
Anyway, I remembered watching Akame Ga Kill back in 2023 (the year when I finally decided to explore other anime's series beyond just Mecha). I enjoyed it, but it wasn't my favorite or anything like that, I just simply thought they could've have been more room to improve and moved on to the next show.
I did watch it, probably cuz I heard how this anime how this anime kill it's cast off (which I wasn't surprised, and I explain the reason soon), however that didn't mean I was unfazed when I watch it. Especially since the biggest surprise when main character died. He was to me the last person to be killed off yet he kicked the bucket and now Akame becomes the main focus in the final episode. Which is funny since her name is on the title, yet in reality the dragon guy was the real protagonist we follow till he's death.
Of course as you mentioned it's not common for many characters to be killed off, so their reaction is understandable. Buuuuuut for someone like me, it's very much the opposite.
Now for the part I been waiting for, get ready cuz now I shall you why my username isn't just for show!
Now you see the reason why I said this trope is more common with Mecha is all thanks to one man....Yoshiyuki Tomino the creator of Gundam. Now Tomino directed on a lot of mecha series, however from the 70s to the early 90s he was once know as Kill em all Tomino! As most of his mecha series typically had high body counts with few characters surviving in the end.
But his most infamous was Space Runaway Ideon (which is where that clip is from). this series not only is consider as one of the darkest mecha anime to date, but also the series with the highest count in tomino career as literally every single character dies at the of story...
However by the 90's he had fallen into a deep state of depression, but after he recovered he began to change on how he directed his series. Since then he no longer went with the kill em all route and focus on a much more hopeful series than the darker series he used to direct back then. Basically he's no longer the kill em all Tomino, he's simply just Tomino.
They're lot of stuff I left out and talking about Yoshiyuki Tomino will take all day to type here. While I haven't seen every work he's done, he's definitely a interesting guy to look into, after all he not only influence the Mecha genre (thanks to Gundam) but anime as a whole. With Ideon being the biggest inspiration to Evangelion, not to mention Hideaki Anno is a big fan of his anime's and had work together with Tomino before...even if Tomino hated Evangelion, lol.
However we're talking about one guy, not the entire mecha genre. So it is death truly common in mecha? Yes, but also no. It really depends on what type of mecha series you're watching as some series can have all the characters surviving at the end.
Death is more present in the ''Real Robot" subgenre, genre where Mechs are somewhat more ground, politics primally being presented (Code Geass for example), than it's older ''Super Robot'' subgenre where Mechs are more heroic and being power fantasy (Gurren Lagann).
Since war stories are presented in a ton of real robot anime, it's expect characters will die. But how many really depends on the writers, there are a few that come close to the kill em all tomino route. But again it depends since you can most of cast survive to live another day (but that would be a bit boring now would we).
Super Robot series however fall victim to this trope. Zambot 3 one of Tomino earlier work is the first Mecha series to use this trope (which had to be taken off it's air in TV since Super Robot series in the 70s were aimed at kids and Zambot 3 wasn't exactly suited for it's target audience....I wonder if those kids slept well, lol)
One particular Super Robot series Bokurnao goes into the kill em all route (at least in the manga), but like Ideon it is considered one of darkest...no the darkest Mecha series of all time. Not just because it's body count but because it's explored certain topics and themes that I ain't even going discuss here (Bokurnao is not for the faint of heart).
How this certain trope is handled in the mecha genre truly differs on what series you're watching. But when compare to other anime genres, it's definitely more patented that this trope is more common in the world of mecha.
Or that's what I think. IDK I don't watch every anime genre at there, so I'm probably wrong in some areas, lol.
Now before I continue my yapping about giant fictional robots. Let's address a few things.
There's no need to apologize about you dragging Tsukihime to me. I was just bit down at the time, but even if I won't be discussing it now and I would still encourage you to read it one day when you finally got the time to do so.
After all I never got the chance to talk about the epic story how Archer Emiya got his ironic red coat (that is related to Tsukihime), not now of course. But just you wait my friend! When I get back into the Nasuverse, I'll yap ll the Nasu stuff till the day I die!
And hey don't worry about it, a mistake is a mistake. I mean I usually don't double check when I type, so sometimes certain words or grammar might come off as weird. But hey it's still a mistake so nothing to worry about hahaha.
So I've mastered the art style you say... interesting. Well to me it doesn't like I have completely mastered art style yet, but compare to the very first Shiki drawing I did. It definitely way closer to Takeuchi art style. I can't say for sure, since I haven't drawn anything in that style since then. But maybe if I continue drawing in that style, then who knows perhaps I might become the next Takashi Takeuchi, lol.
Oh and you're message wasn't hard at all. So don't have to apologize for it and yeah I'm doing better, a lot better in fact. From late December to February I wasn't exactly a very happy person, but I did eventually cool down by March. Life can be a pain but talking to other people, especially you does ease my mind. :)
So in conclusion... WATCH RAHXEPHON RIGHT NOW!!!!!:
The better Evangelion show, I ain't capping I'm spitting facts bro!!! (I'm joking if you can't tell, lol)
Meanwhile me watching their reaction: Oh those poor, poor innocents souls. They act like this the first time an anime had killed all of its cast, when in reality, this anime trope dates way before we even existed. After all this trope is way more common with mecha than most other anime genres, isn't that right Ideon?
So what am'I doing here, I was just feeling bored and wanted to talk about something else other than Tsukihime (since I have very and I mean very little interest of discussion anything Nasuverse related stuff right now due to reasons I'll discuss later in private)
Although there's one thing I wanna talk about first, the drawing I showed wasn't Takashi Takeuchi (Fate's character designer), it was Shiki Tohno the protagonist of Tsukihime in his remake design (which is why he looks like Emiya), the reason why I said "i'm able to replicate an anime art style like Takashi Takeuchi for example". Is because I was referring that I can replicating his art style, y'know how Takeuchi draws his characters and stuff like that. I can replica his style, not perfect but close.
Perhaps the way I worded it lead to the confusion, in that case, i formally apologize for that mistake and should have made it a little more clear. 😞
I think LotGH is the kind of show you just have to keep rolling with. I’ve had it on good authority that it’s worth starting with the prequels, which I’ve linked below. I didn’t know that this was a good watch order going in, but these two shows would give you a lot of background on the two central characters of the show, and based on what I’ve seen, I think that would help. It’s a great show, but it takes some time to really get into the swing of things since it kind of just sets you in the thick of it and lets things go, which isn’t the best way to onboard an audience, particularly since it takes a while to get invested in the characters. If anything really stands out, it’s the grand battle tactics (which do get more complex and interesting as the series goes on) and the often subtle, sometimes blunt discussion of empires and government that permeates the series. The leads go a long way to make that interesting.

Don't apologize, i wouldn't mind if you hadn't ''consume'' it, till 2030 or something. If you got other business to do, then go for it. I'll just wait, after all I'm a pretty patience guy.
I appreciate your compliments, that Kino drawing was going to be for you, actually. But, i kinda forgot and never showed you. Anyways, drawing Kino was pretty easy. Probaly cuz, i'm able to replicate an anime art style like Takashi Takeuchi for example:
It's quite the shame, i wouldn't be able to show you my other older drawings, like those mecha drawing i mentioned. Since my all of my stuff i own were (for some reason) thrown out by my mother. So anything i drew before that kino drawing are forever lost. sign and that wasn't the only ''bad'' thing that happen to me this year. After what happen in July, I'm starting to lose interest of interacting with people online. it seems at this point, i probably would just ignore replies. Life is such a pain in the ass, but then again it's always been that way for me anyways.....
This year was pretty interesting, especially since i finally decide to talking to people online. It's hard for me to talk to other people due to my mutism (aside from my family), so it was nice to talk to other people, especially for someone like me that didn't had any friends, well i do now. but at the time, i didn't. But it was fun while it lasted. Sorry this took so long, laziness and lost of interest were the main reasons, unfortunately. but i hope you have a good Christmas, friend.
Side note: my younger brother has a MAL account, he goes by SilkyBaryonyxuta, so you can say hi if you want to.
Reddit tends to thumb me down almost any time I spoke my mind, I try not to let those thumbs down get to me but it can really just mess with me unconciously. However I never used Reddit for anime discussion since I know that was the first thing to avoid although I got into some arguments regarding anime in random places. I mainly just use Reddit to keep track of this local convention I follow, I had so many replies from posts on the sub reddit I got banned from that I had to disable comment notifications. I was just so sick of being challenged or getting vapid responses without me being able to say something back. That and the Reddit homepage and algorithm is just awful. I stay off there just to save my sanity.
I prefer not to write anime reviews and just like to enjoy the show, however some shows are so lengthy or spent a lot of time with that I felt like I *had* to get my thoughts out. I also prefer not to write reviews like the heavily negative or positive ones do. Thanks
