I get it, but without practice, it'll take you a long time for you to start chatting faster. And it's better to practice this with people you're comfortable with than with some random stranger ;D
If you wanna read Zaregoto, now's the time. There's this guy who started translating the rest of the series. He's planning on translating the last 3 novels this summer.
You aren't entirely wrong, but I'm just comfortable with Portuguese because it's my mother language. Also, if I compare the amount of studying I did with both languages to get to the same level, I had to spend way more time with Portuguese than English. I barely studied to learn English tbh (not saying I'm that fluent with English too. I can't keep up with real-time conversations yet), but after learning more English, I came to appreciate Portuguese on a whole another level.
Yeah, but the study of the language of Portuguese didn't change drastically as what happened with English, that's why English is an easier language to learn for me. Like, you can totally write like before and it still passes as the right way to write in Portuguese. That's what's crazy.
It's pretty pretty pretty hard. I've read one of the classics not a long time ago, and it took me some time to find the rhythm of the writing. It's challenging, to say the least.
I liked it from the start, but it becomes great in the third arc.

So far, every arc corresponds to 1 volume alone.
