Hi! If you are reading this is you may want to know something about me so I'm gonna be real quick.
I'm a Energy Engineering master student in Italy and I'm leading a project about climate change mitigation.
My other interests besides anime are K-POP girlgroups (especially TWICE, IZ*ONE, LOONA, NMIXX, TripleS), City-Pop, Pokémon TCG and RPGs like Blades in The Dark.
GOAL
Back in 2021, during the pandemic I started a challenge where I had to watch "all" anime by an alphabetical order. Not literally every one, but all those who fulfill the following requirements:
- Liked
- Recommended
- Cult or Must Watch
- Popular or Viral
- Strange things that got me curious
- Infamous or hated shows
And avoid shows that are:
- Too old or aged badly
- Unknown
- Not worth my time
STATUS: COMPLETED WATCHING: Plan To Watch 2° Run Updated Sept 2024
Why did I started this challenge? Well, has someone ever asked you
"have you seen [not a mainstream anime]?" and you haven't? I do and I don't want it to happen.
By watching all slightly popular anime I can relate to everyone taste and have a comfortable discussion.
You are wondering how did I manage to complete the challenge since there are tons of shows and you need more than an entire life to see them all.
To maintain a healthy life I had to bend time, my only limit.
I speed up episodes. Sounds like a crime but believe me, once you try you will never go back. In this way I can see more anime and I don't mind dropping a series I dislike. The limit is 4x and it's totally viable when you're adjusted to it.
RATING
Years of anime made me develop a bonus-malus rating criterion which I use for the majority of shows. This method doesn't apply on every anime, it's a indicative and objective way to score a show. Every anime starts with an Average 5 score. This score can go up or down depending on these factors:
| BONUS | MALUS |
| +1 Interesting plot | -1 Too much Fanservice |
| +1 Original characterization | -1 Clichés, same old jokes, undeveloped comedy |
| +1 Fluid animations and good quality CGI | -1 Plot holes |
| +1 Original artistic direction | -1 Basic Stereotypes |
| +1 OSTs that fit | -1 Direction and cinematic mistakes or lost opportunities |
| +1 References to other media | -1 Derps and other animation mistakes |
| +1 Extra personal enjoyment | -1 Shonen plot* |
*The most common and overused plot escamotages to keep the manga/anime running episode after episode, for example: "don't worry MC, I'll keep this enemy busy, you can go and save the princess", "I'm a half human and half demon/vampire/zombie/monster, I'm looking for my true identity while saving the world and searching my lost parent". I think authors can find new ways to develop stories.
