I actively and knowingly watch Anime / read Manga since mid 1999 at the end of Highschool. Not knowingly even earlier as a child will all the "World Masterpiece Theater" TV adaptations and such like. Late 90's here in Germany the anime boom kicked of with the success of Akira, Ghost in the Shell and Patlabor being sucessfull in video stores.
One of the first Anime I ever purchased have been Slayers on VHS and later NGE on the hot new shit later known as DVDs.
In the 00's years I consumed bacially everything I could watch on TV or somehow could leech of the Internet. With slow collections, kids these days can not even comprehend. Broad spectrum of series or movies for legal purchase didn't really kick of before then and only grew slow.
In the early 10's, when even simplest of streaming was still kind of magic and simulcasts far from even being a thing, I took a break consuming seasonized Anime for almost a decade until some time 2019. From 2016 or so, i every now and then consumed what Netflix had to offer.
