Once again this season proves that western watchers will eat any garbage as long as looks good (well animated) while Japanese watchers will eat any garbage as long as it smells good (has a self-insertion generic MC who's definitely not an allusion to a corporate slave abused by his bosses but secretly being the cornerstone of the company).
Because that's really what this is. 90% of "kicked out of hero's party" exists purely because of this premise and is getting the green light and the budget because it's so relatable for poor Japanese workers with their abusive social hierarchy and work culture.
And ok, I get it.
...
I wouldn't even mind enjoying this kind of premise... Except each next execution of this premise is exponentially lazier than the previous one.
1. Plot? Moves with a speed of Japanese worker climbing career ladder
2. Characters? Delusional arrogant assholes - check, sympathetic blue-haired beauty - check, an underage girl smitten by MC - check! And, of course, MC is a typical black-haired guy who's not aware of his own worth. Fine. I can handle most of the cliches. But having almost "I parry everything"-level dense MC who's at the same time smart enough to INVENT HIS OWN MAGIC?? and mind-numbingly stupid and prideful "hero party" is honestly unbearable
3. Animation? Lazy-3D monsters, and I've have nothing more to say
And all this becomes actually infuriating considering that however basic the "being in a party is good" magic/fighting system is, the magic system and an interesting approach to enhancement magic and its use in battle got me interested in seeing what's next. Why does it always have to be incompetent authors that come up with interesting ideas that I'd like to watch develop?
4/10, not recommended, and it's a generous rating, just because I know several animes that I'd rate lower. If you consider watching it, reconsider.

"Critics" nowadays have it too easy. It's so easy to shit on something that's not "perfect" so everyone thinks that writing a negative review takes them somehow higher in the hierarchy of anime watchers. But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't at least try to find something positive in the fantasy anime that's not a generic slop.
This anime.. It's nothing special, really. I didn't have a lot of expectations, so none of them were broken. No cool action. Not a lot of.. anything, to be fair. But it's good. Not "amazing", but genuinely quite enjoyable.
First thing to note that it saddens me how overlooked/badly received
...
this anime is compared to a ton of isekai/"banished from hero party"/etc slop with generic MC, bad writing and non-existent animation. Looking at how many shit anime received better reviews makes me question current state of humanity and our tastes. Secondly, even without comparing it to those pieces of trash, Kunon the Sorcerer is a solid piece of fiction.
Again, nothing special, but
- characters are likeable
- plot is moving somewhere
- jokes are cheesy but funny from time to time
- even if it fails to capture a viewer's interest, it genuinely brings a viewer into a good light mood
Those points fade in comparison to high-budget world-wide popular shonens, true. But they should at least constitute "a decent watch". From my perspective, finding a "decent watch" that's not made by a top-studio based on a top-selling manga is so hard this days that finding one instantly qualifies it if not as a "must-watch" then at least as a "must-try".
Give this a try, people. Expect a light easy-to-watch show with almost no deep or intriguing points, nothing more. But maybe with these expectations you will be able to find something in it that catches your interest and makes you want the next episode to come out sooner. 7+/10, I suppose.

This show is... well... okay. I have to admit that I was interested in how all of the story plays out in the end since dropping any kind of plot that is not a complete garbage makes me anxious (and I can't call this anime a garbage, it's at least not bad).
But in the same time I found myself skipping through the latest episodes just to get the glimpse of what's happening without paying attention to details. A trait of a good story is that you want to immerse yourself into it and read or watch without interruptions it for the sake of getting
...
all those different emotions. It's much easier to be interested just in the plot than to be interested in a story as a whole. If you'd prefer to choose reading a short synopsis with all the events over actually reading or watching the story then it's probably not worth it.
And with this anime I feel like it fails to captivate the viewer enough. It has an interesting premise and an interesting setting, the powers used by the characters are very harmonious with the setting and fit very well. But aside from that I found it a bit hard to be interested in any of the characters since all of them are basically bland. Even those who have either tragic backstories or unshakable dedication to something seem to follow the typical cliche archetypes of characters with such traits without anything unique about them.
Also the plot is not that complicated to compensate for it. It's pretty straightforward and you can often guess what will happen next. The final "plot twist" or "grand reveal" of the show is more or less obvious from the start and thus disappointing. I won't spoil it here but the show gets out of its way to help you make a connection between the main character and one plot-important concept as early as you can.
So, overall, if someone asked me to rate this show to know if it's worth watching, I'd tell them 6/10 to not discourage them. But for me personally it's closer to 4.5/10. If you are more or less new to anime or haven't watched many shows with similar premise, it'll probably be a decent way to kill time and get a non-zero amount of positive emotions from it. In other case, it probably isn't worth your time.

I don't really know where to start... Since I'm a fan of yuri genre, I tend not to skip any yuri anime that seems captivating, emotional or at least cute. In this case I was hoping for "cute" but instead we get something that makes me re-evaluate relationships with my coworkers since they now seem quite nice compared to the working team in the focus of this anime.
The story follows Hime Shirasaki who always wears a "cute mask" to appeal to people around her in hopes of getting a rich husband. This already seems ridiculous enough as a personality trait but I can see how
...
the transformation of such personality into something more genuine can be interesting to watch. BUT the problem is, I don't see how this transformation is supposed to happen in the environment of constant aggression and borderline blackmail (for the stupidest of reasons in this case).
Which brings us to the main problem. The work environment portrayed in "Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto desu!" is abusive and lacks any common sense but in the same time tries to pose as cute and sweet.
Make a random girl do your work because of an accidentally broken arm? Check!
Push her into a new (rather uncommon) environment without any guidance and without explaining any rules? Check!
Be aggressive to her and almost bully her for the mistakes she makes because YOU didn't provide her ANY information about your rules? Check!
Imagine, you run a cafe 1. with a very specific setting, 2. where every waitress plays a role fitting for said setting, 3. where menu items are in German. And you hope that a random girl you literally just met would be able to 1. fit into this setting without even introducing her to it, and 2. understand what the customers are trying to order without not only helping her to get accustomed but even without letting her take a look at the menu first.
It was really irritating watching this for the whole three episodes hoping it would take a better turn. The personalities of most of the characters are over-the-top and in some cases even repulsive. With that being said, I also don't find any pleasure in seeing the main character being unfairly bullied by people who apparently know nothing about common sense.
Plot: relatively no plot whatsoever, I won't rate it since I didn't expect any meaningful plot from the beginning.
Characters: 2/10, not interesting nor likable
Art: 5/10, nothing to note, really, except for too exaggerated big foreheads
Enjoyment: None
Overall: I highly do not recommend to watch it, any other choice in the same genres would be a better option.
