I finished Lovely⭐Complex at your suggestion, and have thoroughly enjoyed Kodocha when I have free time to watch. I genuinely love Kodocha, it's so so good, I did not expect it to be that good xD i love how 3-dimensional it is, idk if that makes sense, but the characters feel real and i like that (i mean, as real as an anime character can get lmao). Sana is just growing more and more loveable !!

Yep lol that's the truth and still to this day I'm forever impressed and surprised when I find hidden gems in the vast ocean of titles, and this still balances with seasonals so always got somethin goin on

Its a longer burn, so it takes a bit to get the whole cast dynamic set; like for example, in Urusei Yatsura it took like 30 episodes to just establish the side-cast. I think Maison gets the stage set by episode 24 iirc, might be off give or take tho

I also find the voice acting and humor sense to be quite high, especially 80's anime- like one of my favorite shows of all time is Maison Ikkoku and that somehow balances each element well and delivers a very satisfying experience. Generally I opt for shoujo shows anyway since I find them to be of better quality story wise. I'd say retro shows tend to have a stronger balance of anime elements, at least for me- I do watch modern shows as well, but there is a difference for sure.

Yeah, I'm only 16 episodes or so in but I'm already digging Momo as a character because she has her own flaws, and she's powerful but still might go about a solution a backwards way. Momo herself is great lol she did a quick 4th wall break joke in an episode with a 'maybe I should drop the good girl act' pretty great.

You know, I wouldn't say I expressly go looking for that genre, but at the same time I've also seen a number bl anime so its not completely off the table or anything; if something's good, its good, right? Miracle Girls is on my planning, but I'm sayin my planning list seems to never get any smaller than what it is lol There's always somethin else to check out, I watch a PreCure every quarter, I watch backlogs while waiting on seasonals to end, and I haven't even continued Pretty Rhythm or started Shugo Chara like... lol at 1.9k shows I still ain't seen that much. yikes

Alright cool, that should be goin on the planning list then- I do have a soft spot for 90's shoujo rom-com, its a needed staple in any anime menu. Gakuen Alice is pretty cool, has a fun presentation but there's a rather serious undertone at all times.

Yeah Sakura is quite iconic- if not one of the three most iconic mahou-shoujo's of all time; right next to Usagi and (imo) Madoka, as an 'era's' kind of thing. Hmm, the last massive multiple season watch I did that was on that level was prolly all the seasons of Ojamajou Doremi; a show that comes with a high stamp of approval from me because of how grounded it was with a great cast and realistic hurdles.

The current watches I'm doin are both foundations for the magical girl genre, Creamy Mami and Minky Momo (momo I'm watching raw) and I'll say this, as of right now, Creamy Mami is inching towards a 10/10- its that good. Momo is different beast though, its like, past the veil of innocence there's like this meta to the show, its weird lol But I like them both so far.

That's pretty cool havin both Sailor Moon and CCS in the favorites- those were both like my earliest anime series watched. I've not seen Kodocha, but I get Gakuen Alice vibes just from the cover- is it worth a look in?
