As a climber and a gamer, I had high hopes for this. Needless to say it was a huge letdown.
Art: 6/10. Nothing special.
Characters: 5/10.
The protagonist Konomi was really hard to like; she didn't grow much as a character and I couldn't really care when she won or lost. Most upsettingly, her progress was so insanely unrealistic that it wasn't satisfying in the least. She hardly learned anything because she was just too OP from the start.
Her teammate and resident tsundere Jun was my favorite character, because she felt a little more like a character. She had understandable motivations and I did feel for her a little bit at some points. The show did her real dirty though, making her perform a lot worse than she should, especially in comparison to Konomi.
The rest of the team and characters were incredibly unmemorable. There were points where I was just starting to cheer for a character, only to see them flop in a really stupid way. When the show itself doesn't care about it's characters, it's hard for the viewer to care either.
Plot: 5/10. Forgettable for the most part. Sports anime aren't known for having the most unique plots because they're supposed to be carried by the characters. This anime flopped because it was lacking in everything.
The most memorable parts of the show were the funny climbing metaphors. As a climber it was interesting to see how they compared climbing to dancing, line-drawing puzzle games, gem-collecting puzzle games, rhythm games(?) and so on. That's about as inspiring as it gets though. Still waiting for a better climbing anime because this was a massive disappointment.
