I don't usually comment but I feel this film is being judged too harshly, especially by those who compare it to the directors newer and more popular work your name. While the animation isn't as good and it isn't quite as emotionally intense as your name it still offers a bittersweets storyline that portrays a beautiful friendship and loyalty. The animation is beautiful especially towards the end, the backgrounds help to capture delicate moments and the music used throughout helps to set the mood perfectly. For anyone up late at night looking for something to make them feel deeply whether that’s a little cry, a quiet ache, or just something in the same spirit as Your Name I’d definitely recommend this.
