Asuna Art Online: Progressive Cringe Overload no Schizo
The worst crime of these progressive movies, this one even more than the previous one, is that they are ruining awesome characters by turning them into harem dolls or plot devices or both.
Now to the points:
Many times there's a female character doing absolutely anything in the frame, a male character must follow by just calling her by name.
This was already cringe-inducing thirty years ago and it was mocked twenty years ago.
Why are we doing this cap again?
It doesn't add anything other than cringe.
And this movie is doing this to the point where it starts inducing rage, not just cringe.
Many "action" scenes are mostly just mindless running for no reason.
Not every action scene is like that and some times there is a reason for characters to be running.
But some times the whole team just forgets that this is an anime about swords and not horse girls.
And it ruins the whole vibe if there was any by the moment a mindless scene begins.
A lot of times characters act stupid and the way it doesn't make any sense whatsoever just to force a plot twist.
And a lot of times it's a stupid plot twist, so it would be better if they just didn't.
Every time there are bad guys plotting or performing bad things, it feels like I've been on twitter for 12 hours.
It feels like there's some cringe contest happening behind the scenes and they all are competing for the first place, trying really hard to be beyond level of awkward that is reachable by anyone alive while also fidgeting and squirming more than it is physically possible.
Far beyond a point where it is painful to watch.
Fanservice is a lot of ass shots, but there's no actual ass.
Most of the shots are Asuna's ass, but there's just two strait legs covered by a very short skirt.
If you're not going to show us more, why do we need this?
And I understand that some fanservice is required by law, but why does it have to be in almost every scene, action or not?
Not spoiling too too much, there are few fanservice moments that look fine and I wish these were the only ones.
There are some action scenes that are done fine (not even close to the season 1, but passable).
There are some scenes with running characters that do make sense.
There are no female characters that are interesting to watch.
There are no male characters that are interesting to watch.
There are no evil characters that are not inducing unsafe levels of cringe.
Drawing and animation quality is barely passable (especially for a movie) some times and below passable most of the times.
It's not awful, but it's not good.
I am sorry, kids, but characters mindlessly jerking and twitching is not good animation; gradients and acid trip colors is not good drawing.
The music is okay, but it's the same we had for a long time, so it doesn't count like an achievement.
Old characters are butchered, new characters are not even characters but plot devices of a very badly designed kind.
And also there was a very good and relatively obvious opportunity for adding a bit more good fanservice, but it was completely botched.
Shows lack of proficiency, badly.
