This anime is exactly what's wrong with modern anime. It's just good enough for you to kinda start to see some potential, but then very quickly the cracks start to show and you realize that it was written probably by ChatGPT or some AI software. There is absolutely no logic that is consistently applied in this show. One minute the character is this angry, edgy teen willing to do whatever it takes to get revenge for the commander. The next minute he's kind of this sappy love interest that doesn't really have any edge to him and doesn't have the heart to really follow through with his threats.
This show tried to be everything at once and absolutely failed. When you're watching this show, the biggest thing you get is that it doesn't know what it wants to be. It tries to be everything to everybody. It has the generic isekai tropes like finding an elf girl in a dungeon and saving her. Of course she ends up becoming his love interest because of course she does. And the black overcoat, black short hairstyle, and close combat style that we've all come to associate with Kirito, Eminence in Shadow and every other generic isekai main character. This entire genre is what is wrong with modern anime. Zero creativity, chat GPT, AI productions that have no originality whatsoever.
