Intergovernmental research facility develops a time machine which devolves into World War III and an Orwellian future, then try to murder everyone who tries to stop them. Just governments things innit?

We've got the friendly government of Marley, which:
* Has imperialistic tendencies and starts wars against their neighbors.
* Uses the power of titans for military supremacy.
* Has literal concentration camps, conscripts its habitants into the army, turns men, women, and children into titans (as punishment and for military purposes), and plans to commit a genocide of an entire island.
* Is willing to endanger its own people for its military goals.
* Uses child soldiers.

And they try to make themselves look like the good guys too, lmfao.

The friendly government of Marley continues to oppress people based on their bloodline, and also attempts to massacre an entire island. Meanwhile, Paradis is taken over by a new government which seeks to quite literally genocide 90% of the world's population.

The ruling government is controlled by a bunch of noblemen using a fake king, and they try to hide the truth by imprisoning and executing everyone that opposes them. Average government behavior.

Literally 1984 but in the 15th century; the Christian Church's thought police was everywhere, you couldn't even wrongthink without getting burnt at the stake. Theocracies suck.

It's the end of the world, and you're never gonna guess who caused it...

The government pretty much runs human experiments on people who just happened to be born with supernatural powers.

The government creates and leaks a disease which turns people into zombies, then practically keep it a secret from everyone.

The military funds the creation of a machine to create the simulation of a real world, they keep it a secret, and they intend to use it to create a murderous AI. Thank God this isn't even remotely realistic (yet).

Shady dude creates a technology capable of erasing people's memories and potentially killing them. Government stops him, then want to make him work for them.

The mayor of a village sentences a child to death over a superstition, and the child ends up fleeing to a town in which many members of the army, politicians and nobles are part of a child trafficking scheme. Average government behavior.

The government experiments, tortures and uses a race of humanoids for no other reason than... uh... cruelty? and delusions of grandeur?

So, the mayor of the town the anime takes places in has the idea to create all these diaries for a game where everyone kills each other and which results in the end of the world.

The government literally uses children as hitmen. What the fuck.

The government uses kids with special powers for human experimentation. Without guvmint, who will experiment on kids???

A zombie virus pops up and the first thing the government ends up doing is nuking entire cities and ordering the cops to shoot civilians if necessary. Amazing.

Everyone is literally way too fucking casual about using weapons of mass destruction.
