Fighting Game Anime - Comprehensive List
Anime
Anime adapted from, or related to, fighting game franchises.
Exclusions:
- V.G. Neo The Animation is excluded, due to being a hentai. Including it would make this stack unlisted, and I don't want that.

The game that popularized the genre in the early 90s spawned the anime movie that also popularized fighting game adaptations throughout the decade.
It takes the general setting and characters of Street Fighter II and makes an original story out of it. Notable for directly inspiring countless designs and elements in future games in the series.

Honorable mention. High Score Girl features real life fighting games heavily, as a key part of its narrative, so much so that I felt it was appropriate to include it. Nearly every major fighting game released up to 1996, including many obscure ones, gets played, shown or at the very least mentioned. Elements from the games are sometimes compared to what the main characters are doing or thinking and are relevant to what's going on in their lives. Actual fighting game characters make appearances in sprite form too, most notably Guile, who is the main character's moral support. In some cases, like the Street Fighter cast, even their current Japanese voice actors reprised their roles for this show.
