OUR OJISAN: Sasaki!
Sasaki is a gentle, well-mannered, overworked (and very tired) gentleman, who through a set of circumstances makes a habit of smoking behind his local supermarket with a certain miss "Tayama", who hides a major secret.
This manga offers captivating, almost slice-of-life-esque romance. The romance is very slow-burn, which makes for a very thorough and sweet relationship! It doesn't often resort to typical tropes, which makes it a refreshing read. It's very wholesome, unexpectedly fresh, and lighthearted.

OUR OJI(I)SAN: Firis!
Lucille, our protagonist, gets unfairly fired from her job and decides she's had enough of such treatment. After moving to the rural town of Cortdieu, she finds employment as a housekeeper for Firis, the local, "legendary" status magician. This stoic and mysterious magician piques her interest, but can she survive as the lone housekeeper for such a persona?!
Einen Koyou wa Kanou deshou ka is so incredibly pure it'll make you squeal. A very comforting read that'll definitely scratch your "european inspired fantasy" animanga itch.
This work excels in the execution of the character personalities. Firis is a very unique character and has a distinct personality that's difficult to sum up in just a few words. When the plot resorts to tropes, it seeks to pave its own path, often resulting in refreshing outcomes. Side characters are also rather interesting. If this story lacks anything, it's the consistency of introduced tension. The hook at the beginning gets solved quite early on. Still, if you find the romance between them interesting, you won't mind- their emotional tension is more than enough.
If you like The Ancient Magus' Bride, this is very similar in vibes!
