This story is surprisingly serious. The protagonist is chopping of the heads of his enemies, and having R-Rated fun with women. It sucks though, horrible pacing. Only 3 volumes, that's probably why it's so rushed.

Story: If you don't know who "Nobunaga" is, you can still enjoy this story. Because it's just a voice inside the protagonist's head, sometimes it gives advice, and that's it.

I liked (past tense) the story because it's so simple. The Protagonist wants to become a Legend. He wants to take the land, make the people fear and respect him. And that is exactly what will happen. People are losing their heads, literally. The story is moving really fast and the battles are usually over in a few pages. But I liked (past tense) the pacing, things actually happen and time moves on. Unfortunately, there is very little world building. And the writing is not always the best when it comes to geography.

Art; The art is very nice. It's looking pretty generic if you simply see the cover, but the illustration inside the books are surprisingly original when you look more closely. The protagonist wear black armor, and uses a sword, BUT he looks nothing like Kirito. Not even a little. And that is just so damn refreshing. There is an elf girl, but she is not a loli, and not a big boobed blonde. She actually looks "normal", for an elf. There's a lack of the stereotypical character designs. Which just makes this novel much more enjoyable.

The reason I dropped it: The protagonist stops being a soldier, and instead becomes a "Leader". In other words, he stops fighting on the front lines, and instead becomes that dude that just gives orders from a safe place. And to make things worse, he stops thinking about love, every female character becomes a means to make babies. Just like the middle ages, there's concubines and wives, and lovers. "Harem" is not even enough to describe this whore-mongering tale.

Overall, I liked this story until the protagonist became a leader. That moment made the whole story change direction and it stopped being interesting. It happens so early and easily that it just feels forced. And the scale of attacks are extremely inconsistent. Battles are fought with hundreds of soldiers, and then suddenly it's a hundred thousand solders, but the writing remains the same. Like there's no difference whatsoever.

I haven't read many war novels, but I can still tell you that this story lacks that important something. That sense of achievement when the protagonist gets a promotion or a hard battle is won. After a while, I just lost the motivation to keep reading, because there's nothing to look forward to. If Naruto was Hokage after the first episode, that would've made everything just a bit boring, would it not?
