You're Under Arrest is a pretty solid show. Decent characters, beautiful animation, excellent voice acting and solid music. Sadly its all wrapped around a rather thin and basic plot. The characters are strong, but not particularly memorable or original. They work for what the stories demand of them but overall. Its just lacking anything that makes it stand out.

So why is it so highly rated.
I just, had a lot of fun watching it. If you slog through all four episodes back to back that is the wrong way to do it. Once a week, in the evening with a friend or two. Take ... it as a relaxed, social experience not something to take seriously.

I'm going to go against the grain a bit here and admit that I did not enjoy this one in the least. The first episode seemed promising but it kind of never lived up to it.
The characters were all bland cookie cutter tropes. The plots focused way to much on a love story between two of the cops that wasn't even well written or well implemented. And while the animation was wonderful, the art it's self was bland and lifeless. In the end I had a very hard time caring about these under developed characters and their daily lives.
Maybe I'm being ... too harsh on this show, but it's from Studio Deen, who's output is usually of a much higher standard than this and on top of that already gave us the very similar and much better made Patlabor.

I know this OVA came before the TV version, but honestly, it feels like they just took four random, pointless episodes from the TV series and slapped them together. Nothing new, nothing interesting — just filler trash pretending to be important.

The whole OVA is built around a stupid, pointless story that goes absolutely nowhere. And to make it worse, it keeps shoving this forced, unnecessary, and painfully dramatic "love story" between Ken and Miyuki down our throats. But let’s be real — it’s not even a story. It’s just awkward blushing, random stares, and fake tension. That’s it. No depth, no progress, no emotional weight ... — just two characters acting like middle schoolers with a crush for four straight episodes.

And the sad part? This fake romance doesn’t just ruin the OVA — it plagues the entire TV series too. The writers clearly had no idea what to do with these characters, so they just made them repeat the same dull cycle of “meet, blush, overreact.” There’s no real development. No climax. No payoff. Just messy writing stretched over every single scene like it’s supposed to mean something.

So, watching these 4 episodes or not doesn’t matter they are just fillers with no proper story and stupid drama.
