Aharen-san wa Hakarenai

Beginning his first year of high school, all Raidou wants is to make friends—starting with the cute, tiny, and soft-spoken Reina Aharen, who sits right next to him in class. Unbeknownst to Raidou, Reina shares the same sentiment, but she has a problem. Awkward and timid, Reina is incapable of determining how chummy she has to be when approaching a person.

Due to Reina's complete inability to gauge personal space, the two struggle to spark their unlikely friendship, as even the simplest tasks like talking seem impossible for them. But despite the countless yet pointless challenges that hinder the pair, the overly imaginative Raidou will do whatever it takes to befriend the indecipherable Reina.

"Aharen-san Is Indecipherable" is the anti-soap opera where everyone is smile-baiting and friend-maxing. It has to be the most innocent, purest, coziest, and wholesome romance anime to exist. It really brings you into the most perfectly possible world where everyone genuinely cares about one another and everyone is patient/honest enough to clear away any misunderstandings that may occur.

Simply put, Raidou and Reina's character dynamic is peak. The way their friendship grows throughout the series is just perfect. Raidou uses his strengths to help make up for Reina's inherit weaknesses in life and Reina uses her strengths to help make ... up for Raidou's inherit weaknesses in life. While other romance animes would have a minimum of 1 perverted scene per season, this show basically just said "sorry, we can't hear you over all of this wholesomeness". There are a few "fan service" scenes per say, but they are very tame and feel like they are to tease the audience more than the actual characters in the show.

The animation is also very good at being able to express the feelings of probably the most expressionless couple in a romance anime (use of detailed light rays, motion blurs, etc.). Reina's voice actor is basically on ASMR-mode 24/7, which you will either love or be indifferent to. The music is okay, but nothing to save to any playlist to listen to later. The only bad thing about his anime is that it now makes the real world look like a ravenous anarchy where everyone is out to get you by comparison.

If you just finished watching something putrid like "Redo of Healer" or just had a bad day and need something to cleanse your mind, "Aharen-san Is Indecipherable" will be a great watch for you. If you a pessimistic person and want to see the world burn, you probably won't like this show, but you should probably watch it.

Mixed Feelings

Aharen-san wa Hakarenai is a pretty funny but repetitive anime. Side characters like those two teachers and those two young kids are quite boring. Still somewhat good, but could be better. Maybe the writer started it and couldn't decide what to do next. Wanted to see Aharen-san rap some more, that part was pretty funny.

- The story isn't unique. It's predictable, too.
- The animation is good.
- If you like silly rom-com, you'll like this (if you can ignore the repetitiveness )

Good Parts:
1. Aharen-san is too cute.
2. Art style is nice too.
3. Aharen and Raido's chemistry is good.

1. The Story

I wanna get this out of the way first - the confession chapter from the manga is the single reason that could justify reading or watching the entire series.
The story is predictable to a fault. Plots are structured to fit within a single episode, and each episode follows the same exact format. A framework like this can work, but in this case - the story is bland as fuck. In both the narrative plot, and its delivery. Forget about character development or any of that sort - every day, the same dry toast. It's like listening to a constant frequency hum for 13 episodes, and ... only realizing its ended cause the noise is gone. It has its moments, but I honestly can't bring myself to remember any, which by itself says quite a lot.
tl;dr - you're gonna have hard time justifying watching this loli bait.
