If an anime you liked was removed from MAL, but for a VERY good reason that makes sense, would you accept that?

Last year there was discussion here on MAL over Twins Hinahima, which AniList refused to list.
While I personally think it is correct for it to be on MAL, AniList's argument towards their decision made total sense.
Likewise, I think it was last year that Rule34 decided to change it's tagging policies to only allow tags of stuff that was explicitly on an image. Once again, while I didn't like the end result, the reasoning behind it made perfect sense.
Recently a certain gaming logging website removed a game from it's list with a rationale similar to if your alarm clock app didn't allow you to set your alarm at a certain time because it doesn't think you should wake up at that time.

This got me curious: Has something like that ever happen on MAL? Pretty much every removal on Anime DB - Recent Entry Merges/Splits/Removals/Denials seems to be "Oops, it should've never been here to begin with".
Closest would've been episode mismatches (e.g. Kyousou Giga (TV) Recaps not having episode 2 due to being live-action).

On AMQ I'm constantly pissed that "Sonny Boy OST - サニーボーイ・ラプソディ" isn't accepted due to repetitive lyrics, but I do agree that rules like that are for the best.

So I'm thinking: If MAL de-listed an anime that you liked, but had a VERY good reason that would be hard to argue against to do so, would you be fine with it?

Of course i would accept that, this website isn't mine to decide. Its owners can add or remove whatever they want and none of us can say anything about it.

I would simply move to a different cataloging site if I really hated it. But big chances are I would simply accept it.

Idk most of my favorite animations aren't even on MAL i do think their rules on what gets accepted into the database are a bit silly like the site could be so much better if they allowed more things, but this is why i already use other sites for cataloguing.

I'd be glad entries that aren't anime are being removed.

Well yeah if it's for a genuine reason I'd support the removal. Such as merging entries that don't make sense to be separate, happened a lot in the earlier days of MAL. But more often than not they remove things for very invalid reasons.

Lets hypothetically say the payment processors wanted to 1984 mal. I would accept that mal is now a lost cause, and move elsewhere. Same with gelbooru if they banned loli.

MAL already doesn't list a very large portion of webtoons I had read...

I wouldn't really care tbh, but if they did that for multiple animes then maybe i would.

I can't think of a genuine reason, since MAL tries to be exhaustive. A single anime isn't that big of a deal and you still can reference it vaguely on your profile if you wish to.

I probably wouldn't notice for a long time, unless it's one of my 10 favorites.

@_noelle I don't think 5 million webtoons even exist, but you definitely only have 800 something on MAL.

I don't always love their catalogue decisions (looking at you scott pilgrim), but I can't really think of any other examples, and that one didnt even officially make it on.
If they started randomly dropping shows that would be one thing, but for a justifiable reason? I probably wouldn't really care that much.

i genuinely fail to see what there would be to "accept". Am I grieving over the loss of a fav anime being in an internet database?????

There are no good reasons to remove any of the anime I like, so no.

I don't think I have much of a choice but to accept it, since I don't run the website.

But it would be nice if RWBY where on here.

I'd be pissed if there were similar cases treated differently. And it depends on what "good reason that makes sense" means, since I don't think that AniList is right about Twins Hinahima.

TV version of Garden of Sinners was removed long ago for some vague reason, yet I'm still alive.

Yes, I’d be angry about this situation, but if there's a reason for it, it wouldn’t matter.

I mean, I'm already not fine with certain anime-style shows not being listed on MAL yet 3D stuff that isn't anime by any definition (not even by the "animation made in Japan" one) gets to stay.
