@RaiYou, looking at your completed list I have a feeling you'll enjoy Paripi Koumei. I went into that one with no expectations and it wound up being one of my favorite shows.

---

For anyone who might want to take a run at a recommendation for me, I'm like easy mode with simple tastes and only 21.6 days watched. ;-)
@GoodForHealth

Heya!

I went through your list and it seems like you like action anime. So I think you could give a try to Assassination Classroom. It's action, but also comedy. You seemed to enjoy Dragon Ball, which is also action and comedy, so that's what I will base my recommendation on, even tho I haven't seen Dragon Ball.

It seems you also liked Konosuba and I've seen some other isekai in your list, so maybe That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime might be interesting for you too. I've seen Slime and then Konosuba and enjoyed both of them, so you might enjoy it too.

_______________

If anyone wants to recommend something for me, I'm open for anything except explicit genres (Ecchi, Erotica, Hentai), romance or slice of life.

You can look into my list to see what anime I've seen, but scores won't help you xD

You can recommend something from my PTW too (except AOT, Banana Fish), I have a lot in there and instead of watching it, I'm adding more T^T

@Dekom Hi! I hope this recommendation is even a little close to what you're interested in.
But seeing that you like fantasy my mind immediatly jumps to this anime: Made in Abyss.
I have to be honest, it's a pretty messed up anime, but I love every part of it!!!

I'm hoping you would also like this one: Majo no Tabitabi.
A bit less "wild" but still a very nice fantasy, with a bit of action and mystery.

I hope these are a bit to your liking, and if you want more feel free to message me!
@Vincentevil
Hello, I see that you're currently watching Re:Zero and liking it so far,
so I'd like to suggest another anime to you that explores the theme of time travel, called Steins;Gate.
While the concept of time travel may be treated a bit differently here, it's got a good balance of science fiction and emotional depth that I hope you'll appreciate!

@Rekii_san Thanks for the recs, I appreciate it! I've read the whole Ansatsu Kyoushitsu and loved it, and I guess I unconsciously filed it under "done" -- but you're right, I should watch the show!

Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken is totally new to me and sounds like a hoot. Both went straight on my PTW. :-)

I haven't recommended shows to anyone in a long while so here goes..
Based on your high evaluation of Bungou Stray Dogs, a series similar in style and content would be Hamatora, which I remember to be pretty good, season 2 even slightly moreso, though I watched them so long ago that I couldn't tell you much else about it..

Alternatively, based on your Satsuriku no Tenshi pick, I must recommend Death Parade, as I really enjoyed it and the overarching themes are pretty similar, though it has a more melancholic tone.

Finally, if you're in the mood for some smut, I can shout out Citrus as a somewhat less classy version of Yagate Kimi ni Naru :)

@Vincentevil Hello there! I went through your list of completed anime and noticed you've watched quite some (school) romance anime. Maybe you like some workplace romance anime as well; Uchi no Kaisha no Chiisai Senpai no Hanashi.

Even though it has the usual suspects you can expect in a romance anime, it's a really easy watch. Hope you like this recommendation from a fellow romance anime enjoyer (en mede-Hollander). ^^

@Houthavens Yahallo!

Going by your interest in romances with a school theme, I'm surprised to not see Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai on your list! It's beautifully animated and has a touching story. Worth a look!

If by chance you have seen it, also consider Aharen Is Indecipherable. It's a similar theme as Komi Can't Communicate and very cute so you might like it!

@OnlyCosm
Because you liked Sonny Boy and I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, maybe check out the movie The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes. It's got a melancholy vibe to it with some surreal elements.

@CukieMunster

I'm going to base my recommendation of your favorites list.
So based on the following:

Your favourite: Cardcaptor Sakura
Recommended: Princess Tutu and Shoujo Kakusei Utena
Reason: They are narratively the peak of their genre since they both find ways to cleverly driving the genre in a more nuanced fashion by expressing their themes, structures and ideas in ways that definitely elevate the genre beyond the common run of the mil presented in the majority of its genre. Tutu in particular shows how much deep a narrative in a mahou shoujo show can be once it handles its chaos with thoughtfully presenting and handling its homage to various ancient fairy tales, concept about a reality mixed with a story, its meta as well as being a well done deconstruction in general.
https://xss.now.cc/anime/440/Shoujo_Kakumei_Utena?q=Utena&cat=anime
https://xss.now.cc/anime/721/Princess_Tutu?q=Tutu&cat=anime

Your favourite: Hunter x Hunter 2011, Kuroko no Basket and Free!
Recommended: Ashita no Joe
Reason: Its a boxing show about a persons life and what motivated him to become a boxer and refine himself from a degenerate to a more proper sportsman. Has some of the finest character development of an MC as well as peak execution of its genre narratively for handling topics like rivalry, classes, individuality really well. The rest of the story continues in Joe 2 btw

For those seeking an anime that seamlessly blends captivating storytelling with deep emotional themes, Oshi no Ko is a must-watch. This series, based on the manga by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Yokoyari Mengo, offers a unique look into the glitz and shadows of the entertainment industry.

Oshi no Ko follows characters navigating the complexities of fame, ambition, and the sacrifices that come with pursuing one's dreams in the public eye. The animation is stunning, bringing the vibrant and sometimes harsh realities of show business to life, while the soundtrack heightens the emotional depth of each scene.

With its mix of drama, mystery, and moments of heartfelt introspection, Oshi no Ko stands out as more than just an anime about stardom—it’s a compelling exploration of human resilience and the truths that lie beneath the surface.

@NagumoYue Mushishi and Kino no Tabi both at 9 is incredibly based. As such I wanna first recommend Girls' Last Tour which, while definitely more lighthearted, I find to be similar in its atmosphere. My second recommendation, based purely on the vibes I get from your list, is gonna be Kaiba, which I absolutely love.

If someone wants to recommend me something, I am actively trying to watch everything in my PTW, but with close to 2000 entries it sometimes is hard to pick what to watch next, so do tell me what I should prioritize.

@Meedor So I looked through your list, and saw a fair number of drama/romance series, including classics like Yuri!!! on Ice, Clannad and the first season of the new Fruits Basket. It may sound like a weird pick, but I'd recommend "Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!". It was an absolute wildcard romance series with a semi-magical plot that really surprised me earlier this year. It's a Boys Love series, focused on office men. The idea is that if you're a virgin when you hit thirty, you will spontaneously start to read the minds of people you touch - and I mean in any way, like standing too close in the elevator and whatnot. Main guy finds out this dude at work likes him, and it's a drama/rom-com from there. :) I found it really sweet, and funny.

Also, while I was at it, I saw you planned to watch the Black Butler series, which I totally recommend as someone who had it as one of my hyper-fixations during high school. I noticed you added all but a couple of the main installments though, those being Book of Circus and Book of Murder, which happen before Book of the Atlantic and happened after the anime-only continuity left off at Black Butler II. We're also expecting a new season next year, called the Emerald Witch Arc. For all entries and any additional info I think newcomers might find useful, I made this interest stack.

I took a look at your list and saw that you enjoyed Death Note and Aggressive Retsuko so I would like to recommend Odd Taxi which is an anime with anthropomorphic characters in which there was a disappearance and an investigation is open. @KawaiiTendou Hii.. The Ancient Magus' Bride (Mahoutsukai no Yome) – This is a dark fantasy series that blends magic with a lot of emotional depth. It's not your typical fantasy story and doesn’t fall into any of the genres you mentioned avoiding, but it has great world-building and an intriguing mix of mystery and romance (though it’s not a focus). and Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis (Rage of Bahamut: Genesis) – If you're into action and fantasy, this series has fantastic animation, a compelling plot, and a rich world with mythology and demons. It's a 1-cour series that's perfect for someone avoiding specific genres.

Hopefully one of these hits the mark >﹏<

For now just looking for something casual like the CGDCT theme.

@littlemyosotis hi! from your list, you seemed to enjoy tian guan cifu, as well as anime with pretty men, so I think you may enjoy Mo Dao Zu Shi, adapted from a book by the same author as TGCF in a similar setting. I hope you enjoy it!

@andreth Hi, it seems like you enjoy Hunter x Hunter so I recommend Katekyou Hitman Reborn! They are both shounen except that this one is mafia. The battle scenes are also so good. Hope you like it!

Hello! Thanks for the recommendation, coincidentally I had just talked and seen a profile who also had Azumanga Daiou in their top picks and this was the final nail to get it up on the Hold list for when I have the time! Sent a FR to let you know what I thought about it after I come around to watch it!

And gotta say, pretty good taste man, I was about to recommend FLCL / Katanagatari / Paprika but you either already seen it or are planning to... Still based on your list I think you will really enjoy:

- Death Parade ( very popular and unique kind of show ; very good characters and atmophere overall ) ;
- Terror in Resonance ( also very good characters and story which touches some interesting topics ) ;
- Baccano! ( storytelling masterclass with a very unique apporach to the way it is presented )
- Violet Evergarden ( my favourite show all time ; beautiful story and animation surrounding an amazing character driven masterpiece )
- Apothecary Diaries ( one of the best female characters that anime produced in the last years ; very compelling mystery aspect to it with good animation and setting )

Sorry the barrage of recommendation but I think these shows are some I felt were kinda missing from your list and I think it mixes the older shows with newer ones!! If you find time to watch them, hope you like them and if you want let me know what you thought! :)

Thanks so much for the reccomendations too! Haven't had much time to watch/read anime much due to college stuff so not sure when I'll be able to get to them but I'll try to check them out when I have time :D
Coindentally, I had almost every single one of those on my plan to watch list at one time or another but cut my list shorter cause I had too many good choices to pick from that I couldn't pick anything lol. Thats a good sign to add them back though

@ocallie

I see you gave Yuri on Ice a 10/10. I think you might really like Sakamichi no Apollon/Kids on the Slope. It's such a unique anime about love, friendship, music and so much more, plus it has the same feelings Yuri had about not feeling up to expectations and searching for his meaning. There's not a ton of "true" romance, but plenty of it is implied and I guarantee you won't regret the watch.

To anyone recommending me things, please recommend me a dub!
