| Give it time. I won't be super positive about this yet but I don't think it's fair to say from chapter two that it needs originality. A lot of the stories in the same genre-demographics start out fairly similar but MAY separate itself from the rest somehow. I like this mangaka's art and Asta is funny, so I hope that may be the case for this manga. We'll see about its ranking soon in WSJ soon I guess. Anyways. 6 months time skip already? That was fast. Idiot MC here we go lol. I love Asta's first words to that Yami guy. And Yuno, what a show off. Or is it that he's too cool to actually sit on the broom so he has to stand on it instead. "Shoot...so far all I've done in this exam is yell." XD Glad you noticed, Asta. But of course he shows his strength at the end against Sekke or wtv that douche's name is. His grimoire is of interest to one of the examiner it seems. |

| This series is showing nothing original so far. But that can easily change in the future. There's a lot of Shounen that start off cliche. Hunter x Hunter (Which is now considered on of the best Shounen), The Seven Deadly Sins/Nanatsu no Taizai, Boku no Hero Academia, and so on. I'm just gonna go in this with an open mind, and see if I can find something good in it. I already have to admit that the art is amazing. |

| More original commentary with dry wit: - I'm not sure if Tabata had made up his mind if I should respect Asta from the beginning or not, at this point he's just invisible to me. - Is this bird gag just here to make fun of Asta . . . . - Are these expressions directly lifted from Fairy Tail or am I having a stroke? - I can't say I'm impressed with the character designs. Wish some of these characters had some charm to them instead of being wacky personality traits. - "Shoot, I'll I've done so far in this exam is yell." Okay fuck, that got a great laugh out of me I'm not gonna lie. - I'm going to make a counter for how many scum bags Asta is going to have to fight who look down on him for being some poor boy to make me feel bad: 002 Maybe you should make me like Asta first. - I'll say that the end to that fight is satisfying and I do like Asta's gumption as someone who works rather then gets handed things but that's about it as of right now; also Yuno being the rival friend, please progress past that I hope. |
