Legend of Crystania both the Movie and the OVA are so incredibly flawed I can barely put it into words. The characters are annoying, the world over complex with little explanation leaving those that have just watched Lodoss wondering if someone has spiked their drink. Nothing about this sequel adds anything to the greater story, instead it just muddies the water. I mean the story in the Legend of Crystania OVA is so ridiculous and as previously mentioned complex I'm still left flummoxed as to why I should have cared at all for any of it because save a few moments this OVA and the Movie left me cold inside. I mean what the hell did they do to Ashram!? What was the point of any of this!? Why is this a million miles away from what Lodoss was!? The Animation was Awful, the soundtrack medicore at best and the voice acting just flat out bad. Shame my Lodoss marathon had to finish this way but there we go.

Interesting to see the end of Forceria's last gods. But what about Ashram's liberation and his sudden loss of charisma?

3/5

Extending the "ragnarok" of Forceria, it concludes the Crystania intrigue but not Ashram & Pirotess fate ! The characters aren't anything special but were enough for this short story. The main problem was the impression to run through the events at high speed.
Better (less simplified) drawings than the movie, but the animation stays unremarkable.

Score: 5/10

@BlaizeV What about finishing your Forceria marathon with Louie instead? ^^

I actually have watched the Louie series many years ago and only recently foudn out it was part of the lodoss saga. I remember liking it though it felt like a poor man's Slayers in many aspects. I did entertain the idea of rewatching the series to complete a true marathon of all the Lodoss stuff but I eventually got mixed up in other shows and so I never got around to it :)

Crystania story is more complex than Lodoss.

Chaos World scenes were pretty enjoyable. I wonder where did the imagery of one's body disintegrating via spirals come from. Definitely not the first time I see it in animation.

Redon's fight with Beld/Barbas was rather sloppy, but Sheru's "sacrifice" was surprising - I expected her to strike Ashram lol.

With such an epic scale of Crystania's story, the movie+OVAs did a decent job wrapping things up despite production issues. If only it was as popular as Lodoss to receive proper attention (from creators and audiences alike). It's obvious that with better abilities to show its world, Crystania could have more potential.

P.S. I thought Kirim and Irim were supposed to be brothers up until the end of episode 2 but whatever

Just not enough time to tell a meaningful and emotionally connecting story. Movie was better, and I had a better notion of what was going on with the happenings in this anime. Redon was a fucking insufferable, incessantly shouting, preaching clown MC unfortunately, and his shit got old quick.

Well, this was pretty great. Amazing animation and story and good characters. My only gripe is that Adelisha was useless in the end.

Awful, really awful cash grab. I only watched this to be done with the Lodoss franchise. The 1991 OVAs were aesthetic has hell, but extremely rushed. They only got enjoyable by the last arc. And despite all those problems, they managed to make a worse, mire shallow story without the aesthetics. Pirotess looks nothing like her former appearance.

The Crystania movie and OVAs plot development is just killing characters off.
