A great remaster over all, the whole post-arc content condensed into one episode
The preview for the next episode looks amazing!! It's finally happening!!

All good things must come to an end, and this is one of them. We saw a revamped version of the Straw Hats taking on the New Fish-Man Pirates and seeing Luffy kick Hordy’s ass, saving Shirahoshi numerous times, and more.

They celebrate a job well done while we relearn about Joyboy’s apology to Fish-Man Island. Now that Luffy has awakened Joyboy’s powers, will he be the one to fulfill the promise in his stead? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Caribou got what was coming to him and Big Mom really thinks that she’s something special. THAT’S RIGHT, LUFFY ATE YOUR CANDY AND FISH-MAN ISLAND IS NOW HIS TERRITORY! YOU SHOULD FOCUS ON LOSING SOME WEIGHT SO THEY DON’T CALL YOU BIG MOM ANYMORE!

G-5 has learned about the actions of the Straw Hats and Smoker, AKA White-Chase, knows what’s up.

Luffy is such a badass that he doesn’t give a F*** about danger. He’s going to the island with the shakiest needle because of his immense, unadulterated badassery. When the crew is saying their goodbyes, it pulls on the heart strings. Shirahoshi’s innocent wish to go above the sea and view a real forest with almost everybody giving her a pinky promise to take her there, along with Luffy reflecting on when Shanks gave him his hat, Ace’s death, Jimbei confronting him on Amazon Lily, and Rayleigh’s goodbye are all so heartwarming! WE’RE READY TO GO!

I’M EXCITED FOR ONE PIECE TO BE COMING BACK!

The pacing/cuts can be quite jarring at times but they kept most of what made this arc great. The Otohime / Fisher Tiger flashback was still great but with this being a one off remaster arc, I guess there'd have to be some compromise.

The big mom introduction was too rushed and you can't really feel the weight of the moment, good jokes were cut, etc.

Some cuts that I appreciated though was the castle escape, that made the arc feel longer than it should have in the original runtime and filler to seem like the straw hats were struggling (thank god) with fodder.

Overall though, I enjoyed watching this arc again. It just reminded even more why I love this show. With that said, glad we're back on track with Egghead!

Sad that this episode was too rushed, 5 chapters is a lot, 4 of action could be handled and it was ok previously, but oh well.

I enjoyed this remaster overall, hopefully we can see PH and specially dressrosa remastered.

oh and yes FMI remastered > OG fmi.

expected a lot from this episode, they should have adapted all this with one more epîsode, Luffy's conversation with big mom was cut way too short

But heh overall really good rewamp, made me appreciate this arc for what it was, probably still one of the weakest OP arc but it has so much more going for it than i remembered that's for sure

Well, I liked it. It wasn't perfect by any means, but they managed to fit the entire Fishman Island arc into 21 episodes compared to the OG FMI arc from 2012. This condensed remastered version had plenty of cuts that looked off. Also, I was kinda expecting that they would fix a few errors from the OG, but instead, they kept the details unchanged which didn't sit right with me.

For this episode, Big Mom's voice was different as it was the OG VA for Big Mom from episode 571 of the anime, and I guess Toei decided to keep it that way out of respect for Toshiko Fujita (RIP). But when they showed the silhouette of Kaido in this episode......it's still the old obscure silhouette of Kaido back then from the OG. How I wish they would have rather improved this in this remastered version to match the modern era especially now that most of the fans already know how Kaido looks like. That would have been much cooler, but it's just my own personal gripe. And damn, they really rushed that segment about introducing stuff regarding two of the Big Mom Pirates especially Big Mom herself. Plenty of stuff got cut off just to fit it into this episode...

I still enjoyed watching this FMI remake weekly, even though I've been hungry for newer content especially the continuation of Egghead arc, but that preview after the credits was what we've all been waiting for. So happy to see that preview with incredible animation and I'm so eager for the return to Egghead! I cannot wait any longer! 😭

This is good for someone who doesn't remember much of this arc. But for me who remembers it very well, aside from a few episodes, I didn't enjoy it very much, as I'm not a big fan of this arc.

With the threat of Hody Jones already handled we are treated to lore exposition which in One Piece is among my favorite parts since it takes a lot of episodes to see how the worldbuilding has progressed. In this case we get more information regarding Poseidon aka Shirahoshi in this case due to her power, Akainu's rise to power after defeating Akaoji, the rise of the Blackberad pirates and the way Luffy picked a fight with Big Mom for the future. Of course, there's the emotional pinky promise with Shirahoshi and the remaster of the big moments that have lead to this point in the story.

Now, with how much this remake fixed the pacing of the original release, will there be a remake for the arc in the next island? Well, there is "The One Piece" and the Netflix series but those involve the whole series and are way behind. Something like this could really work especially for the next 2 arcs (and I might even say 3 arcs based on what I've hear since I couldn't watch it yet).

In any case, is this worth the watch? If you've watched until the time skip or read the manga and wanna relive the arc then this is a very faithful adaptation. Sure, if skips some bits here and there but imo they weren't very memorable to begin with. And the fights got the animation treatment they deserved in the first place. Good opening variations as well although I still prefer the original song and the ending was pretty cool since for a while it was rare to have one in the series.

See you next remake I guess.

Good remake of Gyojin island in general. They cut some parts, but okay. The ending music was so good. We officially coming back next week with a double episode. Let's go.

This recap wasn't bad, but the pacing felt too fast overall, it would have been better if Toei made ~25 episodes instead of just 21

To me, the remake removes a lot of important content and… ~sigh~ well, the original adaptation of Fishman Island did a better job of making people understand what's going on. For example. Some summaries of arcs and movies from this franchise, takes the most essential parts of story arcs, making people understand it because it was presented in a cohesive manner. Taking in consideration the limited time structure in comparison to the OG arc. A shame because I wanted to give it a higher score, but it felt too much cram down to my liking.

Definitely one of my bottom 5 arcs in all of One Piece, but that doesn't mean this deserves to be deemed as a bad remake. Quite the contrary.
I feel that this is the treatment Dressrosa deserves, even though we all know that that arc is a hard sell even among us One Piece 15+ years fans.
On another note, I'm so pumped up for The One Piece!!!!

This episode was still done in a very rushed manner, but that's to be expected, I guess.
Lots of funny moments, great banquet, great worldbuilding and post-arc moments and JOYBOY
We meet Big Mom and Pekoms!
And get a heartwarming scene with Shirahoshi :)

And with that, ends the Fishman Island remaster.
It had its ups and downs overall, I don't feel like it can act as a proper substitute for the entire arc, but its still okay.
There weren't much new sound effects that I noticed, the opening and ending were good enough.

Its a miracle that Toei did manage to make this to fill the time between the actual anime taking a break
I really hope that people who are watching this as a substitute dont watch the preview for the new arc episode.

They skipped several parts in the manga too and Hody's fight wasn't good at all but overall I love how fast paced it was, it wasn't perfect by any means and I wish they extended it to 25 episodes just because since this was the 25th anniversary celebration special, and they would've also done a much better job with 4 more episodes. Such a bummer! Anyways, waiting for The One Piece which gonna have 25 for that exact reason, but if doesn't release this year it won't make sense! Either way I would love for Toei to remaster every single other arc like or better than this from the first one and onward once the original anime ends, whenever that will be!!

Luffy wants to meet Shanks, several hundred episodes later and he still haven't but on the bright side Jinbe will be part of his crew by next episode as he wanted, magic!

This never gets old.

And I guess Zoro is tsundere and it's not pervert enough for Franky LMAO

#739 on MAL, lol. And that's supposed to be with better pacing. Yep, this arc will always be crap, no matter the pacing. Actually, it still feels too high and should be even lower. The only good thing about this arc is Nami looking the hottest she's ever looked in any arc in One Piece because of that outfit and growing her hair longer. Her appearance in arcs after this one is not as hot.

Fantastic arc!
Even if the faster pacing felt a bit jarring at times I think it still hit most of the high notes.
It's also interesting coming back to this arc and seeing all the references that we've learned more about now like Joy Boy and the Void Century.

The art-style and animation was good enough of an improvement to warrant this new version of the Fish-Man Island arc.

Kind of a low-key way of ending the remake in my opinion. This episode flew by even faster than some of the others. Really wish they would have split the last segment into two episodes.
