Well, they managed to get through that freezing weather. It was tough and brutal but they made it.

This season can't end without one more food offering from Aoi. Oryou is also kinda underrated in this show but she's been a valuable friend for everyone involved too. Nothing too dramatic for a season finale imo. Good show overall. I do wish this season aired earlier than 2025 since the first season though.

And so Aoi and Ginji-san let the demon ogre rot in prison and lived happily ever after.

THE END

Well, I wish. But now I wonder wether they will bother with another season. I mean they have to pretty much, after that ending.

Aoi being saved from the wolves from a monster aiding her from the sidelines, and with Ginji down for the count, the freezing blizzard just would not cut it for survivability. It's really almost a miracle that both would be saved by snow fairy ayakashi, and with Chibi following Aoi, making a meal is almost instanteous for her...if not for the rikodake mushrooms found on the side, part of the ingredients acquired as an offering to the Lord of Winter made into a cold dessert. With both hot and cold meals covered for Ginji, it's accompanying the snow fairies to see the Elder Tree.

The surprise of the Elder Tree being both a Christmas tree lookalike and the entity of worship that the snow fairies look up to, that's where the rikodake mushrooms can be found through its steps, which is a sigh of relief for everyone involved. Even Ranmaru managing to deal with the sky pirates is also a resounding success, as much as Kiyo awaits Kasuga's awakening with the cure to his much-needed relief, as well as the northern lord himself dealing with all of his oppressors to give Tenjin-ya his goal ingot of approval. Even Oryo and Kasuga are happy to see Aoi alive, as much as her survival is needed for the long battle ahead of them.

At the end of the day, Aoi is safe, and the battle for Tenjin-ya lingers on...until we can get a Season 3.
But please, not in this degrading style...

So I'm assuming the Master somehow saved Aoi and Ginji since she saw ogre fire, but why did the snow fairies just have a perfect house, kitchen and perfect ingredients?? Really felt like some super weak, convenient storytelling there.

Season 2 as a whole was a major step back imo. Not just on the artistic side, but I thought the narrative was lacking.
Probably my biggest gripe is this relatively newfound, desperate love Aoi and the Master have for each other. I admit S1 was building up there relationship, but then S2 seemed to hop skip straight into googly eyes love from Master in the first couple episodes and then this annoying, melodramatic tsundere Aoi in the rest of the season.

5/10 for me. Hoping S3, which it appears we are getting, steps it back up.

Hmm, I'm sad that they come back after all this years and including today's episode only managed to resolve half the problems they created during this second season. OK, it's mostly about Kasuga and her moving and living in the North, and Kasuga is cute and Aoi's best friend so it's of course great to have the plot revolve around her for this season.
Unfortunately I didn't find proper access to the (translated) source material yet so I'd love to find out how it continues. Or did I miss some announcement? I still stand by my rating of 10, maybe I'm just a too great fan of Aoi's but it's my personal opinion, so what. ;)

Anyway, what they wanted to wrap up for now has been nicely wrapped up and I hope it's not another seven years now.

PS: nice Christmas vibes one week before the day

Oodanna is waiting in jail to be released only next season, that's even if they make one... poor guy

It wasn't a bad ending to the episode, but a bad conclusion for the season. I personally think they should have made this a 24-episode season like in season 1.

The god of winter appearing was good fortune. As was being saved by the snow fairies. Having chibi here to translate defo was useful. Their manner of speech though sure was funny. The offering though sure looked pretty fun. Would have been nice to see the siege of the castle though. But grats for Kasuga's recovery and renew of bonds with Kiyo. Guess we'll be seeing what happens next season then.

Very good ending episode!

Very good season, but the production quality worsened related to the excellent first season.

Very, very good series!

Is there enough story to produce Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi San? A third season already would be welcome; even more if better produced.

Suprised this anime get sequel after 7 years. There's no recap episode for first season, long delay like this should have recap to help old watcher remember.

Sadly it seems that the animations and drawings are worse than first season.

The story is still interesting but somehow I don't really enjoy it compared to the first season.

Currently the story stopped while the master is still missing and no announcement for next season. I hope they plan to make another season.

Overall just okay.

I don't even know how I'm supposed to feel. I'm sad that Oodanna didn't get saved in this season, and I honestly don't know if we'll ever get a third season or not.

At the same time, I'm kind of glad they didn't rush everything. This season was already packed since they tried to fit so many important things into just 12 episodes. I really wanted Aoi saving Oodanna to be an emotional moment, not something rushed.

Well… yeah. Ever since I first saw the slightly changed character designs, I had a bad feeling. I didn't expect the overall quality to drop this much. And Aoi's lines in the last few episodes felt really silly, like she was just repeating what other characters had already said.

I wouldn't say it was bad, but it's definitely disappointing considering how good the first season was.

And it just ends like that, what about Oodanna? They should have made S2 2 cour just like S1. I hope there is S3 to conclude the story.

I'd been enjoying this anime so far, but I fell asleep on three separate occasions trying to watch this final episode. Somehow it turned from good to ok to so boring it cured my insomnia. It was pointless and needlessly risky. Unless they go back to the plotline I don't see myself able to continue if they ever have a S3.

frankly, the low-budget/low-res/low everything 2nd Season (i think) has shot the franchise in the foot for a 3rd one. the 1st season had multiple storylines ongoing or in sequence. kinda like a gaggle of fast n dirty short series/seasons within one setting. the 2nd one is a ponderously moving singular storyline with a FEW side-stories interwoven into it to support it. i get how these are nigh-on immortal beings with such long lifespans that their childhoods are in human pre-history and their grandchildren are growing up in 'the modern era'. but... WE and Aoi aren't getting any younger! even cutting out fights and combat and whole conversations as well as locations and just showing those through 'flashbacks' and 'exposition drops'... these 12 episodes barely got anything accomplished... and yes i remember, S1 had 26!!! episodes!!! so with less than half that number, why does S2 look like dung compared to S1?? did Gonzo totally drop the ball in studio Makaria's lap and make them do all the work while Gonzo just kept their name on the credits? i've only ever watched one other show studio Makaria did and that was 'The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows' (Spring '25) and that one was visually... ugh... not even average for the industry... but the story was good work! so Bed n Breakfast S2 looking... ugh... due to Makaria's involvement? \shrug/ that's my take on it.

as to a S3? with a VERY long, good looking, and big group of well-told stories S1 got the franchise started handsomely. so the fans want more, and what do they get in S2? less than half of the first season's episodes, definitely much MUCH lower production values, and a single story that... mhm... just seems to drag its feet. you want a 2nd season as a fan to improve on the 1st or at least keep the status quo in EVERY regard. as an investor you want the same, because the more folks who like and watch and comment... the more cash flows back into the investors' pockets... and the more willing they will be to invest in the franchise for a S3.

@KiliianSleipnir

I was wondering the whole time during this season why they even bothered bringing it back after seven years when they're just gonna half ass it and not even bother to finish the story this season sets up properly. If they announced season 3 right away I would sort of get it, but now it just seems like they don't give a shit which is pretty weird.

@uselessDM yup, i entirely agree. why even attempt the project, or drum up more funding, or... anything? if Gonzo is going to flat-out just let Makaria do all the work for them? Gonzo's got a stellar rep as an anime studio and has been cranking out hits for as long as i can remember... and that's 25 years now... in the 2000's Gonzo was the schitt. Hellsing, FullMetalPanic, Vandread, KiddyGrade, Gravion, Kaleido Star... the list goes on and on and on. this season of Bed n Breakfast? is definitely! a black mark on Gonzo's record. if i was their bosses and figured out, 'ok. we really can NOT do this show. let's bring in a collaborating studio.' i would NOT have chosen Makaria. they only got started in 2014, they don't have enough main-name anime titles in their filmography, and what they do have (as i mentioned) doesn't look good enough. if Gonzo was going to trip and fall flat on their faces? take. their. name. off. the. project. and support it quietly in the background.

now, i dunno what the source materials are like. i dunno how much content was available to adapt. so perhaps! this 'normal length' season had to be 'stretched out'??? based on the source's page counts/events/plotlines??? maaaaybe that's why it felt so ponderous? too much dialogue used and tweaked and provided to the viewers? maaaybe Gonzo just took a HUGE bite out of the source with 26 eps in S1? not leaving themselves enough 'meal' to serve up in S2?

Horrible writing, meh animation, a huge disappointment.

Don't really care if we get a Season 3 or not. Not unless it's a massive improvement from Season 2. Especially the writing.

kasuga & kiyo are just brimming with lovey-dovey loveness after they both spoke up.

now that post-credit scene...guess a third season is coming some time soon i hope, hopefully sooner after this season wraps.

but i have to admit, the animation of the characters this season seems lacking. they still looked similar to the previous season's character style, but they looked less polished in some scenes.

leading up to this point I just knew oodanna-sama wasn't getting saved at the end of this, tho surprised they didn't continue another cour like they did first season
I feel like whatever is happening here is similar to Hataraku Maou-sama! where that first season was out ages ago but then a season 2 randomly comes in like errrr the other year and a continuation quickly swoops in to finalize everything so I hope the part 2 of this season 2 comes up quick because it really took me a bit of time to readjust remembering who was who lmfao
I think because of the gap between the first season and this, I can't compare it as well like others have been doing but ngl I think this itself for what it is, it's decent enough, the cooking and wholesome moments make me happy

I enjoyed this season; it wasn't as good as the others, but it still entertained me. Honestly, the redundancy of the protagonist didn't bother me; I only noticed it after many people complained about it in the comments. I had low expectations at the beginning, but now I hope there will be more. I really like all the characters. One thing I didn't understand is people complaining about Kasuga, as if there couldn't be development for secondary or tertiary characters.

I liked this episode, but it definitely feels so much more like a mid-season ending than an ending to the series :’(

It’s weird, it feels more like a buildup to another arc or finale rather than a true ending, but at the same time I’m happy we got more at all. I’m gonna keep hoping there’s gonna be a real ending and not just this narrative edging, but time will ultimately tell.
