Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island Vol. 1
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Black Gundam ??? There was only Amuro's White Gundam in the One Year War in the ''Gundam: The Origin'' manga... Where did this Black Gundam come from ? Who was the Pilot ? And above everything, such a thing shouldn't have existed in the One Year War.
The Dark Colony, there was no mention of the Dark Colony in the ''Gundam: The Origin'' manga. Then again, i don't remember Cucuruz Doan character from the ''Gundam: The Origin'' manga as well. (lol) the vol. 1 was still an enjoyable read though.
Gundam (The Black One) was this scary silent
...
hunter, a total nightmare which put the Zeon's Zaku Pilots through all kinds of hell. This was how the Gundam was from the perspective of Zaku Pilots. Yeah, the Story was told from the perspective of Principality of Zeon's Soldiers (MS Pilots) in this manga series which is a 5 volumes long companion mini series to the ''Gundam: The Origin'' manga series.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island Vol. 2
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Story shifted between the years of UC 0078 and UC 0079 in UC time line. We were curently in the UC 0079 which was the Year of the One Year War, but we were also going back to UC 0078 which was one year before the One Year War mainly in the memories of Y-02 MS Team's Pilot, Vasily of Principalty of Zeon.
Why did Cucuruz Doan, the former leader of Y-02 MS Team deserted his team in the middle of the One Year War was still a mystery. I liked, how even one of the test pilots of Zeon who betrayed his fellow comrades had a legitimate reason to betray them. It is always like this right... People have some legitimate reasons, but to achive the goals of those legitimate reasons, they do horrible things.
like making wars. lol
Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island Vol. 3
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
After the Black Gundam, there came another White Gundam in this volume... Together with the Amuro's White Gundam, there were 3 Gundams in the One Year War then... I wonder if we will have an explanation about why the other White Gundam and the Black Gundam never even mentioned in the ''Gundam: The Origin'' main series ???
And what was that ''important reason'' behind using poisonus gas on Halla Colony that Doan and Kitz wanted to explain Vasily to convince him that it was necessary ? I really wondered what made them do something so horribly monstrous... But the Explanation never came. I liked Vasily. Cucuruz Doan supposed to be the main character of the manga, but Vasily definetly stole the show from him so far.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island Vol. 4
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
After the Black Gundam and the Other White Gundam, another new Gundam MS also appeared in this volume. So far there were 4 Gundam Mobile Suits active in the One Year War (including Amuro's Gundam) I really wondered what was the reason for desertion of Cucuruz Doan ?
I mean Cucuruz Doan was in the operation of killing an entire colony with poisonus gas and he killed so many civilians including elderly, women and children on the Earth Invasion of America, but there were some hints like Cucurus was fighting for the freedom of Spacenoids from the Slavery of the Earth Federation and he did what he did for this cause and now the freedom of Spacenoids purpose turned into the Taking the Control of the Earth purpose because of greed.
Cucuruz Doan certainly wasn't happy about that. I wonder there will be any cameo appearance by Amuro or Char in the Manga in the Next Volume which is the last volume. So far there was only a very small drawing of Gihren on tv in one of the panels in one of previous volumes. Other than that no one from the main series ''Gundam: The Origin'' appeared, just some of their names mentioned.
The Manga's art style was different from Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's art style in the ''Gundam: The Origin'' manga so Gihren character design was different in his small cameo and i didn't like that at all. I am glad no one else from ''Gundam: The Origin'' manga appeared so far in the ''Gundam: The Origin MSD Cucuruz Doan's Island'' Manga.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island Vol. 5
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Hey ! This was super cool ! I really liked how the Story in this spin off went paralel with the Story of the Main Manga Series, especially at the last volume with the Last Battle of the One Year War, the Invasion of A Baoa Qu military space station of Zeon by Earth Federation Forces.
And finally, we learned why Cucuruz Doan deserted. He had the Most Legitimate Reason a soldier could have for desertion. I liked all the Y-02 Test Pilots Team, especially Vasily. Calca, Hjal Mar (What kind of name is this Hjal Mar ??? ) Kitz. They were all very symphatatic characters. There was no explanation in the story for why there was no information, not even a single mention about the Gundam Units other Amuro's Gundam Unit in the Main Manga Series ''Gundam: The Origin'' though.
But here in the ''Gundam: The Origin MSD Cucuruz Doan's Children'' Spin Off Manga Mini Series, there was no information, not even a single mention of Amuro or his Gundam or the White Base. So it can be taken as a Gundam Series just doesn't tell everything that is going on about the subject of its time line in its story.
Binged it in 6 days. First Binge read of the Year 2026.

I read All the 9 Volumes of D.Gary-Man Omnibuses. If i knew that i would like the manga this much, i would definetly wait for it to get completed to binge it.
D.Gray-man 3-in-1 Edition Vol. 1 TP
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
I liked it. I am cheking out all the Popular Shonens lately. I tried Bleach, One Piece and now D.Gray-Man. I have to admit i liked D.Gray-Man the best among them.
The Manga had these Gothic Horror elements, but in a tongue on the cheek way because it was a Battle Shonen. Allen Walker was a nice Shonen MC. The Manga was about some
...
kind of priests called Exorcits who were capable of using anti-akuma weapons which were made out of a substance called the Innocence. These Weapons were able to kill the super natural enemies called Akuma which were created by the Millenium Earl who wanted to bring the end of humanity. I wonder what kind of new Exorcits will be intruduced as the Manga goes on.
D.Gray-Man is not the big popular jump series like it was in 2000s today because it is in hiatues because of the Mangaka's health issues as far as i know. I wish for the Mangaka to get well, IMMIDIATLY!. I want her to complete the Manga. I was finally able to get to reading D.Gray-Man. What can i say, there are so many mangas, comics and books to read and better late than never.
D.Gray-man 3-in-1 Edition Vol. 2 TP
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Mangaka was really hard on the MC, Allen Walker. Totally put him through a meat grinder. There were two big arcs to introduce two new Exorcist. And that was it, i guess, there won't be any long New Exorcist introduction arcs because manga focused on the Heart Innocence and finding the Generals for a while now.
As far as i heard from my sister, the Heart Innocence and finding the Generals would be the Main Goal of the MC and his friends as Exorcists as far as the Manga continued. I believe the New Noah Family characters will be introdiuced in the further parts of the Manga. So far two of them got introduced.
D.Gray-man 3-in-1 Edition Vol. 3 TP
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Ah, reading a Jump Shonen, the None Stop Action.
Katsura Hoshino definetly put all the characters in the manga through a meat grinder. lol Especially the Main Characters such as Allen, Lenalee and Lavi... the Beating Lanelee got from the level 3 Akuma in the ship journey to japan was painful to read. Remembering The Punch that she took to the stomach... Ouch... lol
I really liked the way Hoshino used Exorcist, Miranda Lotto's powers in the ship journey to japan parts. It was tragic, having a journey with a crew which their fate was sealed like that must have been an increadible burden on the Exorcists. And when they met their fate, it was sad. I would expect Cross and his girlfriend to get together again ...Poor girl...
Allen got his powers back with another upgrade ! I wondered how strong he was now. Lenalee also got an upgrade. Ofcourse, We will see how stronger they got in the Next Omnibus volume. I expect Lavi to get an upgrade to his powers in the Next Volume, he got no upgrade so far.
And i saw in the Extras that Katsura Hoshino's pronouns were he/him so i assumed that she was keeping it as a secret that she was a girl from the readers back then. lol
D.Gray-man 3-in-1 Edition Vol. 4 TP
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
It was a fun read.
I see your game Hoshino... lol First, She put Allan through a meat grinder then Lenalee, Kato, Aristar Krory and Lavi then they all got stronger and got new powers or used their powers in an extreme way to show their real powers. Only front and center Exorcist that was left was Miranda Lotto so she is next. lol
Actually, Kato's fate was still unknown, but i mean come on, the pattern is obvious, i am 99% sure he will come back stronger with new powers. I heard from people that the fights against bad guys were unnecessarily prolonged in the manga. I read 122 chapters so far and didn't see such thing. The lenght of fights were all ok at least for me.
D.Gray-man 3-in-1 Edition Vol. 5 TP
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Ark fight was fine. I liked Tyki Mikk, villain. He was cool. I really wonder where the susptions on Allen Walker that he might be a creation of Millenium Earl will lead.
The Invasion to the Heatquartes of the Black Order was intense, the manga fired from all cylinders there, but so much action was going on in some of the panels and as a result, it was hard to understand what was going on in those panels. That took me outside of the story abit.
Level 4 Akuma was so strong... Even Generals were helpless against it, how come it was expected for Lenalee to defeat it... How could they be so sure that, she would get even stronger than the level 4 Akuma (which was something never seen before) when she synchronised with her innocence...
D.Gray-man 3-in-1 Edition Vol. 6 TP
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
D.Gray-Man is really a very good shonen. I enjoyed so much reading this volume. There were some big revelations in this volume like there was a mysterious other side to the war between the Exorcists and Milleniun Earl and the truth about Allen Walker.
It cracked me up how Rouvelier character looked like Hitler. lol It was also nice to see that there were still new additions to the ranks of Exorcits in the story. This made me really look forward to what new Exorcist characters would be added in the future.
D.Gray-man 3-in-1 Edition Vol. 7 TP
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
There were many revelations about Allen and Millenium Earl's relationship, Second Exorcists and Third Exorcists in this omnibus volume. Some new Noah Clan Members appeared. The End of the Volume was touching, but i also found Alma having the Soul of Kanda's formerself's love interest in him disturbing... Breaking a star for that. lol
D.Gray-man 3-in-1 Edition Vol. 8 TP
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
And there was the conclusion of Alma story in this omnibus volume. I would like to say, it was an ok arc, but all the Alma Karma story's chapters were not under an arc name. I don't know why, but some of the chapters of the same long continuing story line was not under any arc name, each of the chapters had an individual name of their own in this manga.
Well, i am finally in an actual arc with an arc name right now btw. It is the ''Searching for A.W.'' Arc. And it really feels like the Final Arc of the manga. (i started to read the next Omnibus vol. and there were huge revelations about probably the stuff that every reader of D.Gary-Man wondered the most, so probably, i am at the Final Arc.)
I liked Cross Marian and Tyki Mikk characters at first,(don't get me wrong, i still like them), but now, i am totally a Yu Kanda guy. Kato is so cool. lol I started to like Howard Link character as well. Apocryphos was evil ? I mean what is the deal with this ''The Otherside to The War between the Black Order and Noah Clan'' ? Is central agency evil ? The behavior of Apocryphos looked like Central Agency was evil as well...
It was not like the Black Order without their sins with how they treated Lenalee, Alma Karma and Yu Kanda when they were little kids and their unetchial, torture level experiments on so many people with fatal results.
This is a great shonen manga.
D.Gray-man 3-in-1 Edition Vol. 9 TP
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
There were alot of revelations about the Millenium Earl, Mana, Nea and Allen in this omnibus volume. My guess about who the Millenium Earl was, was corret btw. I had this guess so early on in the story. I have some other guesses as well. My sister also has a guess. I wonder if i am right about my other guesses.
I really like the Gothic elements in this manga. Thanks to the Gothic Elements, this manga was more of a my kind of thing than rest of the popular shonens that i read. I really like this manga, but it is still not one of my favorite mangas. If i read D.Gray-Man when i was a teenager, it would be the most near and dear shonen manga to my heart. I can totally see that. A teenage me would worship this manga. lol

I am a man who grew up with Mecha Animes. The first thing that i watched on tv in my entire life was the Voltron Anime when i was 5 years old. Then there came Vehicle Voltron, Laserion, Macross (Robotech), Dorvack, Red Baron, Combatler 5, Evangelion, Votoms.
Unfortunatly, Gundam has never been aired on tv in my country, but finally, i got in the Gundam with the Gundam: The Origin manga. I mean as a mecha guy, it was inevidable for me to check out Gundam one way or another, eventually because Gundam is the First Mecha Anime in Japan that started everything. It is the
...
blue print that every mecha anime built on. It is the Foundation. And i got exactly this ‘’Every Mecha Anime Ever’’ feeling out of reading Gundam: The Origin that once again proved to me that Gundam is the blue print for every mecha anime/manga.
I have been a manga guy for decades now, so i prefered the manga of Gundam: The Origin over its anime and read the manga. It was alot of fun to read. The art was amazing with that 80s mecha anime style that i am fimiliar since my childhood. I am totally in love with the art of this manga. Coloring on the colored pages were amazing as well. Totally superb art.
Story was good as well, but not without its flaws. The First big flaw that bothered me was Char and Sayla’s first encounter to each other as soldiers of the opposite sites. It could have been really dramatic and cool, but the way, they acted and the dialog was abit heavy handed at that part. Dozle’s MS, the Big Zam’s design was too ridiculous for my taste. Still laughing remembering that Mobile Suit… (lol) Sladger and Mirai relationship was so melancholic and tragic. I loved it, but later on there came the melancholic Char, Lalah and Amuro love Triangle that endded in tragedy and then Amuro and Fraw romatic releationship… It turned into a repeatative romance overdose for awhile in the manga with how they came as one after another without a break.
I really liked the Char Aznable character, he was this cold and calculating man. He didn’t know what love was, he didn’t consider anyone as his friend, he was just manipulating and using the people in his life for his ultimate goal which was revenge. He also had this amused expresion on his face all the time like everyone around him and all the stuation, he was in just amused him. He was the kind of dungerous, cold and calculation man that you wouldn’t want in your life, but he was also very carismatic. Yeah, he was a ruthless bast*rd, but he was a very charming ruthless bast*rd until the moment of the final encounter between him and Lalah against Amuro. There, he showed that he really loved Lalah… That totally contradicted with how Char behaved until that moment and i didn’t like that. I broke a point for that.
The Final Showdown between Char vs Amuro was not as magnificent as i hoped it would be… Char’s Ultimate Zeon Principlaty MS, the Zeong’s design was not that good, but i gave it a pass… But i was totally not imperest. Actually, Char’s Red Zaku II MS was alot cooler looking. The Sword Fight at the end… When Char and Sayla previously encountered each other as soldiers of different sides, Char said: ‘’I don’t want to have to kill you, don’t get in my way again’’ (or something similar), but here, at the Sword Fight, he said to Amuro: ‘’I fight to protect Sayla’’ this totally contradicted with what Char said to Sayla with his encounter with her in previous chapters of the Manga… The Reason for these contradictions in Char’s character was probably because someone ‘’warned’’ the Mangaka that Char was such a ruthless character and that was a bad example for kids, so the Mangaka added this shonen mc traits like ‘’i fight to protect my loved ones !’’ to Char’s character to make him a better example for kids… I mean i can hear the ‘’ THE CHILDREN, THINK OF THE CHILDREN !!!’’ cries of ‘’responsible’’ adults… (lol) And they ruined Char as a character for me. I really liked what a charming ruthless bast*rd Char was before they ruined his character at last chapters of the Manga… Such a shame.
SIDE NOTE: If it was up to me i would totally give Lalah a mecha as well. A pink mecha with a chest plate in the shape of boobs. Her mecha’s boobs would shake when she used her psyctic new type powers of ‘’La – La -La’’ and prevent Earth Federation MS pilots including Amuro to focus on the battle and make them lose the Control of their Mobile Suits and Zeon would win the war ! No matter how the use of Lalah’s mecha would be an inhumane war crime.
This way, i could totally transfer the experience of watching the Youtuber Gunpla Meli into the manga… Something has never had such a huge power over me ! I have never been so helplessly powerless against something ! I want to express my Gunpla Meli experience by transfering this experience into the Gundam Manga.

It took me 11 days to finish it. It was an enjoyable read, and at certain points, the manga fired on all cylinders and became incredibly gripping. I actually figured out a secret piece of information about the organization early on in the manga—something one of the Claymores discovered after growing suspicious of the organization they work for, conducting lengthy research, and then revealing it to the other Claymores she was close to. I laughed a lot about this because it seemed like these Claymores were a bit slow on the uptake.
You could say the Claymore manga is a blend of the Berserk manga and
...
The Witcher game. I’m not too familiar with The Witcher, but Berserk is on a whole different level compared to Claymore, of course. So, Claymore isn’t on par with Berserk, but it’s still a very enjoyable manga. I believe anyone who loves Berserk will enjoy reading it. If you’re into the fantasy/horror genre and appreciate good monster designs, don’t wait—start reading Claymore right away !

I noticed an interesting parallel between Dragon Ball and Dorohedoro. In fact, I think Dorohedoro was inspired by Dragon Ball Z. In Dorohedoro, the sorcerer character named En used his magic to turn people into mushrooms, or other sorcerer characters used their magic to transform people into food like pies, etc., and these foods were eaten. This reminded me of the magical creature Buu in Dragon Ball, who used his magic to turn people into candy, chocolate, etc., and then ate them.
It was a great read, and I really enjoyed it. I got that feeling of fun and light heatedness that i got from Dragon
...
Ball while i was reading Dorohedoro. It had its flaws though, the main characters who died were brought back to life, and some characters were revived multiple times and when time travel got involved, it became a situation like, "I went back in time and changed everything in my favor," and then, "Oh really? Well, I went back in time after you and changed everything back to my favor..." This made me roll my eyes a bit... HA HA.
Of course, the whole concept of reviving the dead and time travel reminded me of Dragon Ball again. I think Q Hayashida was mostly influenced by Dragon Ball when creating Dorohedoro. Though the influence of films like Friday the 13th and Bill and Ted were also obvious.

I love this manga. Sometimes I looked at the panels for a long time, I read the dialogues in those panels over and over again. I didn't want to lose that moment, I wanted it to be engraved in my memory, but unfortunately mother nature wasn't that kind to me when giving me a mind... It is a manga that makes me wish I had a photographic memory...
I learned that there are other mangas like Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou out there. That it blongs to a manga genre called Iyashikei and i even read another manga in this genre and it is called Girls Last
...
Tour. As far as i learned Iyashikei series are feel good manga series that has an over all melancholia on the plot and this is exacly what Yokohama Kaidashi Kioku was.
Girls Last Tour is another one of my all times favorite mangas, but it had a bad end, i understand a Iyashikei manga suppose to have melencolia over overall its plot, but a bad end gets into territoriy of feel bad...(HA HA) I am just saying though, actually i love bad ends, but an Iyashikei supposed to be a feel good series with sweet sadness, you know melencolia, so i think Girls Last Tour kind of get out of Iyashikei territory with its bad end because it is not sweet sadness anymore, it didn't depress me or anything, i love a bad end anyway, but it can depress some other people.
I realised that i am a Iyashikei guy. I learned that March Comes in Like a Lion is also an Iyashikei manga (i am collecting it right now, but i haven't started to read it yet) I am just pulled to Iyashikei mangas... Even without knowing that they are Iyashikei, i go for Iyashikei mangas. (HA HA)

Buruburu Kenshin ! It is a Battle Shonen, as a Battle Shonen, it does what a Battle Shonen does... HA HA It has the same shonen clichés as in every shonen I've read, and ofcourse, the main target audience of a shonen is children and teenagers, especially early teens, so there are comedy parts in it that you can see in every shonen, I laughed some of them as well. Of course, as a Battle Shonen, it has non-stop action. I liked the characters of Shinamori Aoshi, Saito Hajime and Hiko Seijiro, I like charismatic respectable big brother type of characters. I believe anyone who
...
likes shonen will enjoy this manga.
The Manga gets extra 1 point because it totally took me back to my high school days in late 90s and early 2000 when i was collecting Spawn Action figures and Playing Samurai Shodown Games in the Arcades with its extras of Nobuhiro Watsuki chit chats with the readers.

It was a low-key sci-fi manga. I want to talk about the subject, but it seems a little difficult to talk about it without spoilers. To summarize very briefly, a heartbroken romantic boy, while returning to his country Japan from traveling around the world on a ship, met a mysterious and beautiful girl named Emanon, who was traveling on the same ship, and they started a conversation. It can be said that it is an experience that every young man hopes to experience and it sounds like a slice of life manga, right ? But from there with the involvement of imaginary evolution, it turned

This manga is called a seinen, but the story is full of shonen clichés... For example, the phrase "I must protect everything I love, I must protect everything that is important to me", if I had a peny for every time the main character said this phrase in almost every shonen I watched and read. , now I would be even richer than Elon Musk. Then, in order to achieve this phrase, there is the you need to get stronger by training, especially against a strong enemy, learning to use your power or learning a new technique, and the enemy you fight against later joins
...
your team as your friend... etc. Shonen clichés like these were in this manga, so it would be more accurate to call this manga a battle shonen with excessive blood and gore scenes.
The plot of the manga was not that original at all. Basicly, Human-looking monsters, who try to survive secretly in society, are a threat to humans and because of that they are hated and hunted. There were so many characters in the manga, I can't remember the names of many of the characters. After a certain point, I wasn't sure at first whether the mangaka added a new ghoul investigator character to the manga or we went back to and focused on an already excisting ghoul investigator character who was mostly in the background so far. Of course, this confusion went away when I realized that when the mangaka added a new ghoul investigator character to the story, he showed the ghoul investigator character's name, rank, Quinque (a special weapon used by ghoul investigator while hunting ghouls) technique and the name of the ghoul investigator character's Quinque in a tamplate.
The manga made me read without getting bored due to its abundance of action, otherwise I would not have been able to finish reading all the 144 chapters. I like shonen anyway, I just expected more from a manga that is considered a seinen.

I finished Gunnm. The ending was ridiculous... The Zalem turned into a tree... what, how, no way After i gave these reactions, I gave it 5 out of 10 points on MAL, but there was a part in the last chapters that I saw as an inspiration for the Matrix Film, seeing this made me abit warm up to the manga because I really like the Matrix, the first film was great, the rest was still watchable even though it wasn't that good. I also liked Alita's film, but the manga was very different, as it progressesed, it almost had nothing to do with the
...
film, the Film was going to a much different place, if it had a sequel. The manga was pure action, It was read like a battle shonen with some gore and it had so few amount of nudity, I can't really call it a seinen. In order to seem deep, the manga gave examples from some literary works and philosophical works and stuff, and then gave a lot of scientific information, most of which was fictional, but when you look at the story of the manga, there wasn't actually anything deep
Mangaka wanted to create a conflict between Gally's human self and his machine body, but this was very weak, manga barely touched the surface with that, so it didn't mean much. Then there were many other things that didn't sit right with me, for example, the personalities of the characters showed inconsistency, the character you call a good girl suddenly became extremely cruel and did not care about human life at all, or a character like Desty Nova, whom you would call a complete psychopathic monster, suddenly experienced intense emotions and wanted to live in peace and harmony. There were many things that didn't make sense. Then when you learn the big secret of Zalem, when the residents of Zalem learned that they were so shocked and traumatized that they couldn't overcome it and committed suicide, you say, Is this it... This is not something that would cause such a big trauma and lead to suicide.
