I noticed an interesting parallel between Dragon Ball and Dorohedoro. In fact, I think Dorohedoro was inspired by Dragon Ball Z. In Dorohedoro, the sorcerer character named En used his magic to turn people into mushrooms, or other sorcerer characters used their magic to transform people into food like pies, etc., and these foods were eaten. This reminded me of the magical creature Buu in Dragon Ball, who used his magic to turn people into candy, chocolate, etc., and then ate them.
It was a great read, and I really enjoyed it. I got that feeling of fun and light heatedness that i got from Dragon Ball while i was reading Dorohedoro. It had its flaws though, the main characters who died were brought back to life, and some characters were revived multiple times and when time travel got involved, it became a situation like, "I went back in time and changed everything in my favor," and then, "Oh really? Well, I went back in time after you and changed everything back to my favor..." This made me roll my eyes a bit... HA HA.
Of course, the whole concept of reviving the dead and time travel reminded me of Dragon Ball again. I think Q Hayashida was mostly influenced by Dragon Ball when creating Dorohedoro. Though the influence of films like Friday the 13th and Bill and Ted were also obvious.
