About the recommendations, I’m really glad you want to read 20th Century Boys—it’s one of my favorite manga! I read it last year. At the beginning, it seemed like just a manga about friends reminiscing about their childhood to solve mysteries, but as time went on, things kept escalating until it reached a point where it was almost impossible to predict the ending. It was my best manga read of last year, an amazing experience! Especially because I read it slowly—around 10 chapters a day, since that was the only time I had—so I was able to digest the information a bit better.
Black Paradox is a good manga, but personally it’s not one of my favorites in the genre. Since you don’t have much experience with the genre, I recommend starting with Junji Ito’s classics—he has a lot of great works! And since you liked Black Paradox, I think you might enjoy Gyo, Uzumaki, Tomie, and Hellstar Remina. But if you want, you can also explore some more recent authors like Kanako Inuki, Shintaro Kago, etc. Recently I’ve been wanting to read Dementia 21, but it’ll take a while before I start, since I’m currently reading a book and I just bought two more to read at the beginning of this year.
As for your recommendation of Act-Age, I think it’ll be kind of hard for me to read it. I usually defend the idea that a work doesn’t necessarily reflect its author, but I can’t read something by an author who did something absurd or disgusting without constantly remembering that what I’m reading was made by that person. A few years ago, I wanted to read Samurai X, but I found out that the author had been convicted and what he was convicted for, so I dropped the idea. I even tried watching the remake, but I only managed to get through the first season. Still, if you have another recommendation, feel free to send it!
