As a fan of UchiMusume AND its ending, this anime has me rubbing my hands like a dirty little fly gazing at a big hot garbage dumpster.
A "daughter and father adventure" story is not a fresh concept in anime, and it is not something that needs to be celebrated every time a new title airs. In all honesty, this anime is no exception. BUT I haven't seen an anime so unapologetic and blunt in hinting that it might not stay a "pure" father and daughter relationship for long. It's as if the author wants to say "fuck being subtle, we ball."
Storywise, it is nothing new.
...
Even the MC's background is basically "Bad childhood story 101." Everything that has been done before is being done here, so JUST the story is not the main selling point. That said, the MC drops some heat lines in the first episode, and he is not a bad protagonist. He avoids the biggest sin of many MCs, which is being boring. He has a fun personality, at least more fun than most of his counterparts from other anime, not passive and actually able to be funny despite having one of the most basic ass designs known to mankind.
So what is the selling point? If you look at the character list, you will notice a pattern in which characters get the most weight and screen time looks like, and how they portray Rirui as someone coming from a race that cannot be associated with the term "family friendly". It is clear the author is targeting a specific demographic, and boy, I AM ONE OF THEM.
There are other things to sell. The animation is great, not in a "ufotable unlimited budget" way, but in how the show is animated. Everything feels lively. In some scenes it even feels slapstick-y. The studio really does its best to work with such simplistic designs, and they pull it off.
Do they handle what they sell well? Absolutely, they nail it.
Is it cute? Yes. The relationship between Rirui and Shinonome cannot be called anything less than wholesome. Along the way there are at least one or two moments that make you say "awwww" even if you already know their relationship will get more "intense."
Is it funny? Absolutely. This anime has some of the best visual comedy this season, not that it has many competitors, and the VAs do a great job, especially Sayumi Suzushiro as Rirui. It's genuinely one of the funniest anime of the season and one of the funniest from it's trope.
The OST is an acquired taste. The more you hear it, the better it gets.
What about the fanservice? Well, some people die of thirst while others drown.
Overall, if you love a "non classic" father and daughter relationship in a fantasy setting, and you are a fan of UchiMusume not only for how it goes but also for how it ends, you are going to have a field day.

Watching for the eye candy is the best way to enjoy this anime to its fullest. The more you pay attention to the story, the cornier it gets, and the more annoyed you feel, and there goes your enjoyment.
This anime has cute girls, pick your favorite, enjoy her appearance, and move on. Don’t even pay attention to the story because even the anime does not care that much about it.
First of all, you want me to believe Rei is a qualified teacher, teaching monster girls to be human at that? How? In what way? This guy is not even qualified to be human and this
...
anime wants me to believe he can teach non humans to be human. The dude is literally a two year jobless NEET who hates humans. Not only that, he is also a spineless dumbo who literally gets treated like a punching bag by his students. He barely ever fights back, barely ever teaches anything valuable, and is mostly passive about everything. The sensei from Blue Archive is a better life coach and teacher than this guy and HE IS NOT EVEN AN ACTUAL TEACHER. No wonder every time there is a "teaching" scene it gets cut because even the author probably does not know how to describe what it is to be human.
Another thing I want to point out is Sui, the mean-o rab-bitch character. I don’t know if this trope has barely been used for the past year or if God just conveniently lets me deflect anime with this trope, but why does it still exist? Why does a character that talks shit out of their ass and being an asshole still exist in anime that sells waifus? I know some of yall love the bratty loli trope, me too, but in the end we love them bratty not bitchy, and Usami is 100% bitchy. Someone ought to correct her characterization and it is definitely not Rei.
We are already in the 2020s and characters like Rei and Sui still exist, why? Who is the target market?
What about the other girls? Decent, not new or original. You got the bubbly type, the gyaru type, the silent type, the double personality type, etc. You know the usual set, pick your favorite.
What about the story? Like I said, corny. This anime would be better if it was full blown rom com or just comedy, but the author feels the need to inject unnecessary drama to make the story bigger than it is, an attempt that absolutely fail.
While I said it would be better as a comedy, it is not funny. Not a single time while watching did I laugh, not even a smile, and that says a lot because my funny bone is very easy to tickle. Sometimes I even wonder, am I supposed to laugh?
Animation is very decent. The point of interest is the waifus and the production team knows it so they made an effort to make the heroines as cute as possible despite the obvious meh budget.
Overall, like I said, watch for the eye candy. You come, you see, you pick the one you like, enjoy her appearance, you smile, and you move on.

I have read the manga, I know that this is an adaptation of the light novel, but bear with me. One of the few things that really makes this great is the art, and sadly it does not carry over well to the anime adaptation. While it is obviously much higher budget than your average isekai, it is still not comparable to the manga.
Story wise, it is a very standard noble world building anime, with a bit of easy to chew politics and nation building on the side, so it is a very easy watch. Sadly it suffers the same problem as many other anime
...
in its genre. A problem exists, it gets figured out and solved in one episode thanks to the always right all powerful MC, and then people clap and praise the MC relentlessly.
Also I mentioned that this is an isekai, so yes our MC is reincarnated, and that does not affect the story much, other than giving the author an excuse to make the MC a very smart young looking protagonist. The conflicts are repetitive and mostly solved in the same repetitive way, rinse and repeat. I would say they do not handle it that badly, many shows do it better, but many shows do it much worse.
As for the OST, I do not know what is up with the opening song choice, it is certainly unique compared to most isekai anime, and I am pretty sure it has its own niche audience, but it is not for me. The ending is much better.
Also Till, Khamsin and Arte are still adorable as fuck here despite the animation being passable at best and great casting for them, that is almost exactly how I pictured their voices when I read the manga.
Overall, it is a very basic beginner friendly anime that you can probably enjoy if you, as the title implies, are easy-going

My doctor said I have diabetes because my blood glucose was high, I want to blame this anime because it is way too sweet.
Maou no Musume wa Yasashisugiru is by no means a novelty in anime and manga, stories about babysitting are common, but an anime like this is always a blessing to the world, every time it airs an angel grows its wings, and boy, another angel grows its wings this season.
The story is simple, it follows Jahy babysitting Dou, the daughter of the Demon King, and training her to become a vicious demon.
But Dou is kind, extremely so, Dou is kind to people,
...
Dou is kind to demons, Dou is kind to animals, Dou is kind to everybody.
Even when Dou is a demon, Dou is still kind.
Even when Jahy and the Demon King papa hope Dou will be evil, Dou is kind.
Even when people act mean to Dou,Dou is kind.
Even when the world and people around Dou is irredeemable ,Dou is a righteous demon.
When even the meanest of the mean see Dou, they cannot help but become righteous as well.
Such a simple story, yet it tickles my heart in all the right ways, I am a grown man and I am not ashamed to admit that I shed a few tears of joy while watching this kids show.
Everything about this anime is comfort upon comfort, from the OST to the animation and art style, zero complaints from me.
It is also a great family watch, if you have a sister or brother you should watch this together with them, at the right moment it might remind you of their childhood, that is how good this anime is.
Misaki Kuno is still the GOAT when it comes to voicing a cute character, she has not missed, and this anime does not take that title from her.
Overall, highly recommended if you have younger siblings, this is a good family watch, also recommended for people who are weary or feeling down and tired with everything that has been going on, Dou might be able to cheer you up.

There are so many unanswered questions in this world. Is Bigfoot real? Are we alone in the universe? Why do people like feet? And finally, WHY TF DOES MIKI NAZUNA KEEP GETTING HIS WORK ADAPTED INTO ANIME? Did this guy sell his soul to the animation demon? Or is he just a filthy rich dude who keeps paying studios to animate his Wattpad-level OC fantasy work?
I will say this again. THIS GUY GOT 15 UNFINISHED BOOKS, 15!!! He plans to write even more this year because he aims to be the fastest writer. Remember, fastest not best. QUANTITY OVER QUALITY is a thing, yes, but
...
HOW TF ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO APPLY THAT TO WRITING A BOOK? He barely ever finishes his novels and the anime you are watching is an adaptation of one of his unfinished concoctions. Boy, why?
I’ll start with something positive. This adaptation is absolutely better than his previous adapted work "Botsuraku Yotei no Kizoku dakedo Hima Datta kara Mahou wo Kiwametemita". The story here is more concrete and dare I say it, actually has heart. Of course I mean by Miki Nazuna standards, not in general. Do not compare it to other fantasy anime. It is what it is, like how you do not compare Rent a Girlfriend to your favorite rom com. This is a one sided massacre.
You can sense he is actually trying here. This is one of his older works so he was probably still writing with his actual brain instead of autopilot and copy pasting the same shit over and over. There is world building, or at least an attempt at it. He actually put on a thinking cap to explain this world and how magic works. It is not good and it is not interesting, but still, it exists. There is also political conflict and drama, again an attempt. Instead of explaining everything in detail, Miki just says, “Fuck it, let’s make our MC sound smart and make everything he says and does correct.” Overall there is nothing remarkable about the story. Nothing here hasn’t been done better by other anime. If you have watched a ton of shovelware fantasy anime in the past few years like me, you will be like, "hey wait, I’ve seen this plot before", and you would be correct.
There are indeed anime with extremely similar plots to this. The thing is those anime, including Miki’s previous adapted work, are generally very lighthearted and comedic, but here Miki is trying way too hard to be serious. It is important to note that Miki’s work is only bearable because of the comedy, because at least it makes the anime easier to consume. Here he is going full edge and trying to make it as serious as possible.
That brings us to our MC. This is probably one of the most slapable MCs in Miki’s collection. Like the story, this guy tries way too hard to look cool and stoic. He acts like he does not enjoy living, always moody with that "Count Dooku shit eating smug face". Always flat. You could replace this guy with a cutting board and nobody would notice. Also,In classic Miki Nazuna fashion he looks like a toddler but has the power to split the sky open. Miki cannot go a day without making his MC the strongest ass wiggler in history. Every character slobbers over him. Everything he does is right and people constantly praise him. Not a single problem or obstacle sticks to him. He either uses infinite wealth or infinite strength to solve things and everyone praises him. It is like Maou Gakuin but unironically. The way he talks is also one of the most annoying I have ever heard.
I also mentioned he writes like a Wattpad OC fantasy. In his previous adapted work everyone felt like NPCs. Here he does a 180 because his MC is the most OC-est looking character in his stash. He feels so out of place in his anime. The more you see him the more he sticks out.
Can’t say the same for the heroines. Alichey, Zoey and the maid carry this hard. Not only do they look pretty, their designs are at least somewhat remarkable. Alichey’s singing makes the anime bearable, which is sad because she rarely appears. Again, a total 180 from the NPC heroine in Botsuraku Yotei.
The animation is not bad, obviously better than his previous adapted work, although the fight scenes sometimes feel like two frames per second. The OST, both the OP and ED, are textbook tryhard. Everything about this anime is tryhard.
Overall, not recommended if you respect your time. Also please stop adapting Miki Nazuna’s work.

Do you not love a different take on a mainstream genre.
Perhaps you are bored with the average medieval fantasy setting and want a change.
This anime offers that change, because instead of heroes fighting demons with magic in a fairytale land, it is about a group of heroes fighting demonic mobs with superpowers in an urban jungle and slum.
The premise sounds interesting and new, but sadly that is mostly what it has to offer in terms of originality.
Overall it is not a bad or boring anime from a general perspective, but it borrows many elements from other mainstream shows, and you will notice those elements if
...
you have watched a lot of anime with similar tropes.
Some moments even feel like a simple reskin of elements from other series.
A little heads up, the anime was originally written by Rocket Shoukai, the same writer of Sentenced to be a Hero, so if you watch both at the same time you will notice shared elements.
Some of the common traits are
the hero who is not viewed as classically honorable
a generally rough but kind hearted main character
and a super cute heroine with a bubbly personality.
If Sentenced to be a Hero is too gory or extreme for you, but you still want a similar flavor, you can try this anime.
It is not completely violence free, and it has some intense scenes, but the tone is aimed more at a younger audience, with lots of comedy and a lighter touch.
Animation wise, it is nothing special, but the art style is distinct enough to feel like more effort went into it compared to some cookie cutter hero party shows.
The OST is also different from stock fantasy music, and it grows on you after a few listens, though I would call it decent rather than outstanding.
Overall it is an enjoyable anime and one of my favorites this season, but I would not recommend it to viewers who have seen a lot of anime and want something truly new, because it can feel repetitive.
That said, it is a great entry level show for people who are new to anime, and it is an easy watch to hook a friend without starting them on something intense.

Will they?
Won't they?
You bet your boots they will.
Every once in a while a school rom com anime like this graces the earth with its presence, and it is always a blessing for the cold heart, because it directly injects you with a high dose of positivity from the feel good romance.
The animation is amazing, you can tell it has a high budget from miles away, and accompanying the impressive animation is sharp visual comedy, it is rare for an anime to make me laugh, it is even rarer for an anime to make me wheeze, so big kudos to this show.
Despite having a
...
just good opening song, the opening animation is one of the most creative and memorable I have ever seen, it feels like the production team actually cared and had fun with the material.
Story wise, it is not the most original, but it takes familiar tropes and aspects and makes them much better.
There is no meaningful drama or conflict to weigh the show down, instead it simply bombards you with the sweet blooming love of teenagers, which is enough to make you bite your pillow until it rips.
That being said, it is not just a mindless wholesome mess duct taped together, character development and story progression actually happen and it is noticeable, PROGRESS PEOPLE, PROGRESS, not every day can you see this in a romance anime, not even in super serious and "poetic" rom com.
The characters are lovable, I love every single character in this show, I can even relate to some of them to a degree because despite this being an obviously exaggerated high school story, there is a sense of realism in the relationships between the characters, you will notice this especially if you ever dated someone in high school or junior high school, they even capture the awkwardness and the overwhelming feeling of love to a tee.
Also, the romance between our two main characters is not the only thing this show sells, so you can rest easy in case you think it will feel dragged out.
Overall, it is definitely the best rom com this season, definitely give it a watch.

My friend tricked me into watching a Suicide Squad fantasy rip off, and boy am I grateful because this anime SLAPS.
This anime actually feels more like Suicide Squad than the fucking Suicide Squad anime, and I do not mind being tricked again.
Right off the bat this is not the most original or genre breaking anime ever, you can absolutely notice similarities in story to other anime and video games, but originality does not really matter when it is this good.
Generally speaking there is nothing really bad about this show, the voice acting is great, the music slaps, and the animation is amazing.
I do not know
...
if it is because I watch way too many three frame per second middle to low budget shows lately, but damn the art direction is stellar.
It feels like the production team is serious about the project and they saw the potential and said, you know what, fuck it, we ball.
Does thee animation carry the anime?absolutely.
Is it a bad thing?
absolutely not.
Not all anime needs to tickle your small heart, sometimes anime just sells cute things or fanservice, this one sells epic fight scenes with some extras on the side.
Also important to know, despite being dark fantasy with a brutal premise, this anime is not as dark as other dark fantasy media.
I would even say it is not the most depressing anime this season.
It is still gory and violent, but it gives you room to breathe, it has funny moments and a comic relief character so you do not have to sit on the edge of your seat all the time.
The story again is not very original, and you can tell it was not made to be original, if you come in acting all fancy with your pinky up saying "alright anime,Amuse me", you will not enjoy it, so chill out and just enjoy the action.
Characters are sadly the only real minus for this anime, which is rare in my book.
The premise implies these people should be unredeemable criminals who deserve a fate worse than death and who are hated by everyone, but from what I see these so called criminals are more reasonable than the so called "holy" knights.
Xylo is a reasonable and honorable knight who genuinely cares about the people around him.
Dotta is just a kleptomaniac pickpocket.
Norgalle is a delusional so called terrorist who thinks he is a king, and he also genuinely cares about people around him.
Teoritta is not even a criminal, she is a cutie goddess who wants to save people.
And Tatsuya is...Tatsuya.
I keep wondering what is wrong with the government in this anime, I do not see how these people deserve a fate worse than death.
So it just feels like the author picked the easy way to make us root for the characters, instead of spicing things up by making the criminals actually evil to a degree and backing that up with a backstory that makes us say "I get it man I get it".
But that is not a biggie, I still appreciate how they handle the characters, and not everything has to be morally grey.
Overall this is a very enjoyable anime with great production value, if you are a seasonal anime watcher and want some fantasy then this should be a first pick.

Shiboyugi: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table is an absolute train wreck of an anime.
It is the kind of wreck that you cannot look away from, it is bleak and pressing and so uncomfortable to watch that it sits heavy in your chest, every episode keeps you on the edge and yet you keep watching because the story and the craft are too good to abandon.
They really put "death" in death game, do not make the mistake of having favorites because the good ol'Joe black can just snatch them at any moment, no one feels safe, except maybe the MC, and
...
that constant threat makes even small scenes feel like a slow burn to panic, the stakes never stop being real.
The art choices add to the discomfort, the visuals, as pretty as they are, do not soften the violence, they amplify it, backgrounds and color palettes push an off kilter mood and the designs feel intentionally wrong in a way that makes you uneasy, the art direction is dehumanizing to the characters, if you thought Danganronpa was already dehumanizing enough by swapping blood for pink paint, this anime doubles down and swaps it for cotton, as if cotton does not already have negative connotations on its own, treating their characters as if they are just dolls for entertainment, entertainment for who ? not me, that's for sure.
The voice acting seals the deal, performances are committed and unnerving and they layer over the visuals to keep your bad feels locked in place, every production choice seems to work in unison to never let your frown leave your face.
This is the type of anime that is not easy to love or rewatch, the story is brilliant, character design is striking, the production is top tier, and yet i still FUCKING HATE EVERY. SINGLE. MINUTE. OF IT.
Overall, for those who have had a great joyful day feeling jolly and want to end it by watching something and thinking, "you know what, I want you to fuck up my night", watch this. However, it is not recommended for the faint of heart or for people who hate seeing anime girls in life or death situations, because... Oh boy.

"Shawty's like a melody in my head
That I can't keep out, got me singing like Na-na-na-na, every day
It's like my iPod stuck on replay, replay-ay-ay-ay"
—Youki to Cecilia every day, probably
Yuusha Party ni Kawaii Ko ga Ita node, Kokuhaku shitemita is a fluffy romance anime, so you should know that there's no drama, meaningful conflict, or any blood-pumping fight scenes despite it being a fantasy anime. It's just a story where the author wants to say, "HEY, LOOK AT THIS CUTE STORY I MADE ,NOW SAY 'AWWWWW.'"
So don't expect any life changing, wildly original plot when you watch this. Just relax and let your toes curl.
This
...
anime is also an isekai, but it doesn't really contribute to the story other than to tell us that our MC, Youki, is an S-tier chuunibyou who was reincarnated as a demon but remains human inside, so he's "nicer" than most demons. But it doesn't really matter, because some demons are nice too, not just him.
Now, I did mention that he's a chuunibyou, and for some people that trait might be cringy, especially coming from a guy but don't worry. Here it works perfectly because the world is almost as wacky as his act, when he goes full chuunibyou it just feels silly at worst and cute at best, and I can't help but smile.
There are also bits and jokes in this anime that genuinely make me laugh. One of them is when Youki tries to visit his vice guild master in the hospital. The guild master is covered in bandages like he just fought a mutant bear or something. Youki says, "Damn, that's a nasty wound ,what happened?" and the guild master replies, "I made my wife angry."
Also, this is a slow-burn romance, so don't expect smooching and tongue-to-tongue action anytime soon. And the whole romance isn't only between the two MCs, so don't worry ,every character gets their time to shine.
Overall a very enjoyable, happy anime. I really recommend watching this after you finish a depressing show.
