Liked both the art and story. Kinda mental and fun to watch/read

Yeah, I get what you mean. Tokyo Higoro really does feel like one of those works that hits anyone who cares about art in any form. And yea, its impact is even stronger if you’ve spent time with manga or followed mangaka culture; there’s a kind of lived-in honesty to it. The introspective angle is what draws me in the most—Shiozawa feels less like a character and more like a distilled version of Matsumoto’s own experiences and anxieties. That personal touch gives the whole work a quiet emotional value. I’m genuinely looking forward to reading more of it, and I’m glad to hear your perspective and the vibe you described are just as compelling.

Happy weekend!

Sorry for the late reply.

I’ll sort through a few of them; Gogo Monster and Tokyo Higoro are definitely on my list. And what you said makes perfect sense; his works can be controversial, but that’s precisely where a lot of their appeal lies. by the way, I’ve actually read the first 5–7 panels of Tokyo Higoro, and it already feels quite intriguing—there’s something quietly compelling in the way it opens. Tokyo Higoro seems to speaks to anyone who loves manga even in the moments when that love borders on frustration. <3

Thank you for sharing — same here, it does seem to have a steady reputation so far.
And mhm, Studio Bind’s involvement… interesting.

(Tokyo These Days) also sounds good; I’ve read a few synopses and review about it. I’ll note Tokyo Higoro.
I’d genuinely enjoy. Appreciate the recs.

Hey there, I came across your comment about Ruri. Is it really good? And is there anything else you’d recommend?

ig a lot of scenes from s1 were also like that?
yeah they were. s1 does have nice scenes, particularly episode 4 and the more 'quiet' moments, though i have to admit it felt like the director would've done a great SoL than a csm adaptation lol. i also meant to add this to my previous comment but whilst i do really like the movie, it just does not capture the particular way fujimoto does lighting in the manga where it had noticeably far more tension in scenes such as reze holding those two dude's heads as a warning.

oh i just saw that u had reze in ur favs. did they show more of the maximum the hormone song from s1 in the movie ?
she's been a favourite of mine for ages. since i first read the manga iirc? been a while now, holy shit. and yeah, i'm pretty sure they did. was mostly during fights.

oh hey, it was pretty good. huge improvement over s1 with lots of stylising with the colourwork, ost and new artstyle which works way, way better for the series over the sterile, washed out look of s1, making for some very memorable scenes. reze's va completely knocked it out of the park and there were some really neat original scenes that mostly padded out existing events that were originally like, a page at most.

however, the movie's runtime is half action which i guess is fine because it's a shonen movie but started zoning out at times. and, though this might just be me idk, it felt like mappa seemingly over-animating each scene; characters tend to move in slightly exaggerated movements and the aforementioned movie being half-action felt like they were purposely going for the sakuga compilation. i still really enjoyed it, though!

I should mention first that I haven’t watched any of the other entries in this series, and I’m not the type who watches anime deeply enough to write reviews or analyze themes. I just go by whether I enjoyed it or not. Personally, I think it was pretty good. It has a shoujo feel to it, with a bit of historical drama mixed in. There are even some scenes with songs that almost feel like a Disney movie. 😅 The visuals are pretty nice too. If you have some free time, don’t feel like watching anything long, or just want something light but pretty, I’d say it’s worth watching.

In fact, rakugo is not that popular.

I think it is difficult to visualize a manga with rakugo as a theme, because if it is made into a live-action, anime, or stage show, it will look cheap if the actors and voice actors are not skilled enough....

I guess the performances I personally would like to hear live are “Shinigami”, ‘Busu’, “Manjuu Scary”, and “Chiritottechin”...

Long time no see. I'm doing well. I read about 10 volumes of the manga “Akane no Hanashi.” But I'm not that into it.

For six months, I watched a live-action drama series starring a female rakugo storyteller almost every weekday morning, so now I can't read a manga about a female rakugo storyteller with the same fresh feeling. Compared to the drama, I feel like the starting point is a little too sweet.

Additionally, I've actually heard rakugo performances by rakugo artists in my work and school life, but I didn't get that into it. The rakugo artist whose style I liked has passed away, so I'm sorry I can't see their performances live anymore.

It seems like there are quite a few people on MAL who became interested in rakugo through “Showa Rakugo Shinju.”

Also, I'm already tired of “Jugemu” being used as a topic so often! lol

Loved the music/visuals and the summer atmosphere of the first few episodes. However the writing so far wasn't too intriguing for me... I hope it will get better later

it takes up a much bigger part of the season, though whether or not it's good enough really depends on you because the season overall is a slog at times. goldshi is here as a side character and, chances are, you've probably seen a good amount of her appearances through gifs and/or clips. still plenty of other silly happenings throughout but still, i'd recommend it as a mostly fine gateway.
