Both anime are set in a fantasy world. Although both female leads don't share the same type of influential role - Monica being a talented sage, and Komari being a vampire princess, both share the same introverted, shy and awkward demeanour most of the time in public. But at the same time, they display their powerful abilities (Komari becoming really strong in combat, and the same with Monica) when they are determined to fight. Both of these anime are funny and can suddenly showcase serious moments at times. Both Komari and Monica also have interesting backstories that reveal how they become who they are today.
