Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto

In the Kingdom of Ridill lives a genius magician known to be the first person to ever use chantless magic. With this amazing skill, Monica Everett joins the Seven Sages as a hero who can defeat powerful dragons, such as the legendary black dragon, all on her own. However, the truth is that the Silent Witch developed chantless magic due to being too shy—preferring to live on a mountain top, far from society.

Her secluded lifestyle changes, though, when a fellow sage tasks her to covertly defend the second prince, Felix Arc Ridill, from attempts on his life. Unfortunately, that means she will have to go undercover as a student at Serendia Academy. Between guard duty and her social anxiety, Monica is facing her most difficult mission to date.

Surprisingly Charming!
At first I thought it started a little slow and boring but I soon realized that it was just my bias. It quickly won me over with it's personality, or should I say, Monica won me over with HER personality. I love a good anime where the protagonists are full of character and merit, and Monica is no short of either. She is cute, witty, most of all shy and precious, but her supporting cast does an incredible job of keeping her grounded and supporting her the way supporting cast are meant to!!!!!

In a catalogue of overused mage tropes she definitely shines brighter than ... dull and boring comparables like frieren who are one dimensional and down right a drag to watch. Monica is a sweet and charming girl with no lack of faults of her own but that's just what makes her so likeable and relatable! She may be shy but she doesn't stray from her values and that makes her a truly loveable main character, she is willing to LEARN and make mistakes along the way, she is willing to GROW and listen to others. The supporting cast is Lovely and some of them will shock you the same way they shocked me, along with Monica some of them will make you feel, sometimes good and sometimes bad and that's what makes them GREAT. That's what a true supporting cast is supposed to do, unlike the non-existent supporting cast in one dimensional anime like solo leveling for example, where there IS NO memorable cast. Secrets of a Silent witch does so many things right, that's why I can confidently say it has Great level writing. It's one of the main reasons why I ended up loving this anime even though it was far to short. I sincerely hope we get a season 2 because this is a lovely masterpiece.

Mixed Feelings

So far, I've liked the protagonist, Monica. Despite being-overpowered and highly talented, which I feel is kind of typical for fantasy and usually framed as genetic, I really enjoyed how the anime slowly released details about her past bit by bit. The timid personality really spoke to me, since I could relate to her a fair bit, and I also dug her fixation on maths and numeracy, giving her an interesting spin in character. Knowing that she slowly gains more and more confidence as each episode progresses really makes the series rewarding to follow. Though the story is highly simplistic, it's enjoyable and works for ... what this anime tries to do. Setting-wise, it's a pretty standard fantasy formula, but it has the potential to work well if executed properly. Some complaints are that Monica is the only character I enjoyed while the other felt irrelevant in comparison. So overall this season set a good foundation for season two ( assuming we will get one ) and definitely has the potential to become even greater later on.

Overpower coward main character who is awkward n shy suddenly made it to top 7 strongest mage. Story continue to down slide from 2nd episode with one off episode of dealing with difficult task or bad guys. It introduce unnecessary stuff like playing chess, dancing and a lot more nonsense to deal with her "growth" of awkwardness. If this kind of awkward people in the real world, it would be step on and not be top 7 powerful people. What's the purpose of this bad writing trying to teach people? You will never be an underdog being this shy in the real world. What a ... bad show and a waste of time. Dont even get me start with so many guys perusing her, stop these harem show please. Go out and touch some grass for giving a rating of 8
