Luca Esposito = Intersex, identifies as male

Luca reveals on screen that he's intersex, and states several times later on that he prefers to identify as male.

Ash Lynx = Bisexual
Eiji Okumura = Gay/Bi/Pan

In the Garden of Light short story, it's stated that while their relationship was never sexual, Ash and Eiji truly loved eachother and were soulmates.

Ryuji Ayukawa = Genderqueer & Bisexual

Yuka wears a mix of the male and female school uniforms, sometimes wearing a skirt with a boys' uniform blazer, other times wearing boys' uniform slacks and a girls' uniform blouse. While Yuka's exact gender identity is unclear, they desire to be seen as both a man and a woman, meaning they are definitely under the genderqueer umbrella.
In chapter 20 of the manga, Yuka reveals that they've always had feelings for a female middle-school friend. Yuka is also shown to be attracted to men, making them bisexual.

Kusuo Saiki = Transgender
Imu Rifuta = Bisexual

In the manga, Saiki claims he was born a girl and then transformed into a boy 5 minutes later. Not your most standard way of being transgender but it still counts.

Imu is shown to be both attracted to Kokomi and Makoto, making her bisexual.

Yuu Asuka = Non Binary & Gay

Yuu expresses discomfort with their identity as male, and later on in the show starts identifying as Non Binary and going by they/them pronouns. It's also revealed that Yuu has gradually developed a crush on Toma.

Hange Zoe = Non Binary & Bisexual
Historia Reiss = Bi/Lesbian
Ymir = Lesbian

Isayama specifically instructed the publishers of the English translation of the manga to refer to Hange with gender neutral pronouns. Hange is also shown to be attracted to both Pieck Finger and Keith Shadis, making them bisexual.

While Historia's sexuality is unconfirmed, it's heavily implied she's bisexual due to her relationship with Ymir, aswell as her later having a husband in the manga. This is up to speculation though since many fans believe her to be a lesbian (myself included) and her marriage being an arranged/loveless one.

Ymir's sexuality is never confirmed explicitly, it is accepted by the majority of fans that she is a lesbian, as her only canon love interest was Historia and there is a scene with Reiner in which it can be implied she expresses a disinterest in men.

Shuuichi Nitori = Transgender
Makoto Ariga = Transgender

Shuuichi is a young trans girl, who at the beginning of the series, is in the fifth grade of elementary school. Shuuichi is described as cute by many of the other characters, and is able to pass as a girl due to her feminine-looking face and physical build. Shuuichi enjoys wearing clothes which make her look cute, her friends, Yoshino Takatsuki and Saori Chiba, encourage her to dress and act femininely.

Like Shuuichi, Makoto too wishes to be accepted as a girl and shares Shuuichi's interest in cute outfits; it is this that spurs Makoto to become Shuuichi's close friend. Makoto realizes that due to her facial freckles and round glasses, she is not able to appear as cute as Shuuichi when assuming the appearance of her gender. Makoto wonders if her primary reason for wanting to be accepted as a girl is due to an attraction to men,

Langa Hasegawa = Gay

During one scene where Langa is asking advice from his mother after an argument with Reki, Langa's mom asks him if he "likes this person" in the romantic way, using the word "suki", which Langa affirmed while blushing.

Grell Sutcliff = Transgender

Grell is a trans woman. In her section in the 2009 character guide, she is described as a "self-proclaimed lady" and states that she thinks "God made a mistake" when she was assigned male at birth. On the same page, she says that she wants to get a sex change.

Lily Hoshikawa = Transgender

Lily is the first, and so far only, official LGBT+ character in the series and the first canonically transgender character in a popular idol franchise. When Lily's backstory is revealed in one of the episodes, she reveals that she was born as a boy named Masao Go.

Kaoru Kurita = Transgender & Bisexual

Kaoru wears a jacket that is a reference of the trans flag. When Momoe said "you don't care if I am a girl" thinking Kaoru was a lesbian girl, he said "inside, I'm a boy". Kaoru initially mistakes Momoe for a boy, but after learning that Momoe is a girl, Kaoru makes it clear that he's still attracted to her.

Aru Akise = Gay/Bi/Pan
Mao Nonosaka = Lesbian

Akise's actual sexuality is unknown, but it's clear that he's not straight due to his attraction to Yukiteru.

Mao is openly a lesbian and in love with Hinata, willing to do anything for her and often making her the center of her photos.

Shion = Gay/Bi/Pan
Nezumi = Gay/Bi/Pan

Their sexualities are unconfirmed, but Shion and Nezumi are canonically in love and/or dating. The author of No.6 also stated that Nezumi and Shion's relationship is inspired by Ash and Eiji.

Osana Najimi = Genderqueer
Ren Yamai = Lesbian (but bad rep)

Osana's gender identity is unclear, but they are seen wearing the boy's uniform in middle school, and having switched to the girl's uniform on high school. They are referred to by all pronouns in the source material, and they also refer to themselves as both female and male at times.

Ren is openly in love with Komi, going as far as to obsess over her to the point of being a Yandere. In episode 12, she asked Komi to date and marry her.

Megumi Fushiguro = Pansexual

Megumi is asked about what his type is in women is by Todo. Before Megumi can answer Todo opens up the question when he says that it's fine if he also likes men. After this Megumi simply says that he doesn't have a specific type and avoids using gendered pronouns. In the anime, he refers to his type with she/her, but in the manga and dub, he says that at long as a person in themselves is morally good, he doesn't care about anything else. It isn't confirmed by the author that he is pan but with the fact that Todo said "It's okay if it's a guy" (which he only did with Megumi, not with Yuji who he later in the series asks for his type) and Megumi not giving a gender specific answer, it's heavily hinted at.

Tengen Uzui = Polyamorous
Hinatsuru = Polyamorous
Makio = Polyamorous
Suma = Polyamorous & Bisexual

Uzui, Hinatsuru, Makio and Suma are in a polyamorous relationship. Suma is also confirmed to be bisexual in the 2nd databook.

Ikuno = Lesbian

Ikuno is shown to have romantic feelings for Ichigo, aswell as expressing clear discomfort at having to partner up with a guy. After the timeskip, it's heavily implied that she's in a relationship with Naomi.

Opera = Non Binary

In both the manga and anime, Opera is never referred to as a man or a woman. They are always referred to with gender neutral language, including they/them pronouns. In flashback scenes within both the manga and anime, Opera was shown to prefer wearing a mixture of both the male and female student uniforms, further cementing their ambiguous identity.

Nanachi = Non Binary

Nanachi's gender is left ambiguous and they are referred to with gender neutral language, using they/them pronouns. Before turning into a hollow, Nanachi's human form also appeared as androgynous.

Tiger = Transgender
Magne = Transgender
Himiko Toga = Bisexual

Tiger was assigned female at birth, and travelled to Thailand to medically transition.

It was confirmed by the creator himself that she's trans and the Lov refers to her as "big sis Magne." When Kai Chisaki called her "he" Toga and Twice defended her and corrected him that she was female, Toga's personality becoming incredibly serious as she told Overhaul "don't make that mistake again."

It was stated on the prototype sketches of Himiko she was possibly bisexual and in the manga she may be in love with Stain, Izuku (two males), and Ochaco (a female), and wants become everyone she loves.

Ruka Urushibara = Transgender (cw transphobia)

While Ruka is referred to as a boy by the characters in the show as well as several official websites generally use male pronouns for her, she does mention several times that she wishes to have been "born a girl", and that she is serious about it, and that she wishes "the things you can see would match the things you, well, can't." While she does not correct the other characters about referring to herself as a boy, this could be explained by her notable shyness and difficulty asserting herself. There is also an arc in the anime where Ruka is actually born biologically female.

Seiko Shinohara = Lesbian

Seiko was in love with Naomi, claiming that she wants to hug, marry and kiss her.

Atsuko Kagari = "Not interested in men"

During an interview, the director of the show revealed that "in the end, it was decided for Akko to be the kind of girl who just isn't interested in guys at all.". This could mean that Akko identifies as a lesbian, but it's also possible that she's aroace instead.

Nina Einstein = Lesbian
Lloyd Asplund = "Not interested in the opposite sex"

Nina is shown to have romantic feelings for princess Euphemia, eventually developing an obsession toward her.

In episode 21, Cecile states that Lloyd "has no attraction to the opposite sex", whether this implies that he's gay or aroace is unsure.

Yachiyo Todoroki = Bisexual

Yachiyo is shown to have feelings for Kyoko at the beginning of the series, even becoming violent when Kyoko shows potential interest in others. Her feelings later gradually end up gravitating toward Satou instead, and they are later shown to be married.

Mihai Florescu = Bisexual

In Mihai's 2021 birthday Q&A it states that, "His partners included both men and women."

Kiyoharu Suirenji = Transgender

Kiyoharu is a transgender girl who is bullied at school because of her gender identity. The bullying ranges from physical to verbal abuse. Since she was able to receive a stick from the site and become a magical girl, that suggests anyone is able to become a magical girl regardless of their biological sex.

Shinji Ikari = Bisexual
Kaworu Nagisa = Gay

The series clearly portrays Shinji as being attracted to both his female and male copilots. The creator of Evangelion, Hideaki Anno, states that his male copilot Kaworu Nagisa was meant to be a love interest. “To Shinji, Kaworu was the first friend he could open up to, and he could also be someone that could be a same-sex partner.”[1]This is also apparent throughout the series as Shinji is shown blushing very often when around the other boy. In the official manga of the series, Shinji canonically has a crush on Kaworu, with the manga even stating, “I was attracted to him… why do people fall in love with those other than themselves?”.

Since Kaworu is an Angel in a constructed human’s body, it’s unknown if he experiences sexuality in the same way that other humans in the series do. However, he’s shown to be very warm and loving with Shinji, even holding his hand once. He’s clearly shown to have open romantic feelings for Shinji, even saying, “I mean, I love you” in one scene and “I might have been born to meet you” in another.

Mahiru Tsuyuzaki = Lesbian

Mahiru shows romantic attraction toward Karen, aswell as jealousy when Karen starts getting closer with Hikari.

Tokiko Hishigata = Lesbian

While Tokiko fully supports Mio in her attempts to tell Shinpei her feelings, it's very clearly implied that Tokiko herself is in love with Mio.

Alluka Zoldyck = Transgender
Neferpitou = Genderqueer

Alluka is a girl; even though, most of her family refer to her with male pronouns (Illumi and Milluki refer to Alluka as their "brother") her brother Killua refers to Alluka with feminine pronouns and calls her his sister. Killua also stated that Alluka is girl and so they need female butlers to attend to her on their mission to save Gon. The official databook lists Alluka's sex as male, however she seems to desire to be called by female pronouns and calls herself a girl. Alluka is also a traditionally feminine name.

The only official statement regarding Neferpitou's gender appears in the databook. It refers to Neferpitou using the pronoun "彼” (kare), which is usually translated to “he” and in the dubbed anime, Neferpitou is regarded as a "he" by many Chimera Ants and other characters. Neferpitou is described like a "mother" protecting a child by Killua, on the cover of Volume 28, which is implied to be based off the Coronation of the Virgin Mary, Neferpitou takes the middle position which corresponds to Virgin Mary's and in Hunter × Hunter Battle Collection, Neferpitou is a female.

Enta Jinnai = Gay/Bi/Pan
Reo Niiboshi = Gay/Bi/Pan
Mabu Akutsu = Gay/Bi/Pan

Enta is shown to have a crush on Kazuki in several scenes, going as far as to kiss him during one episode.

Reo and Mabu are canonically a couple.

Yuuichi Kudo = Gay
Rio Kitagawa = Lesbian

Kudo has a crush on his classmate Suetake and makes it VERY VERY obvious.

Rio has stated on several occasions that she likes petite girls, developing a crush on Mika-sensei and constantly flirting with her.

Momoko Sudo = Lesbian

Momo expresses discomfort at the idea of falling in love with a boy, aswell as clear aversion to receiving affections from the opposite sex once one of them starts getting close to her. In a later episode, she reveals that she's in love with Niina.

Kaoru Anesagi = Transgender

Kaoru is voiced by a male seiyuu, but is referred to with female pronouns by the cast and refers to herself as female aswell.

Ash Ketchum = Aromantic

During an interview with Rica Matsumoto in 2017, on the topic of Ash feeling romantic love: "This can't happen with Satoshi, at all. To have a crush on other people like the others, no. There is no such thing as romantic love for him. He knows and understands what dating is, but to have a crush on someone? Nah."

Laurent Thierry = Bisexual

According to the Great Pretender wiki, Ryota Furusawa confirmed in an interview, that Laurent is attracted to both men and women, implying that he is bisexual.

Mizuki Akiyama = Genderqueer

Mizuki is referred to with they/them pronouns by the cast. In the Project Sekai mobile game, their younger self is depicted with short hair and a male school uniform, and later having switched to a female school uniform in high school. Mizuki uses the masculine pronoun "boku" to refer to themselves. I suggest checking out the mobile game if you're interested in learning more about Mizuki, they have several event stories focused on them and their development!

Arashi Narukami = Transgender

Arashi says this about her gender and self-love: “No matter how much I want it, and no matter how hard I try... I could never become the beautiful woman I dream to be. But even if that’s true... I won’t let it depress me. I won’t whine about it anymore. I love myself most, no matter who I am.”. Arashi is also depicted wearing the school's male uniform.

Hana = Transgender

Hana is a trans woman, and a former drag queen. She even states at God made a mistake by accidentally putting her in a male body.

Reo Mibuchi = Gay

According to the CHARACTERS BIBLE PLUS, Reo came out as homosexual in high school. He's been consistently shown/implied to have romantic interest in other guys. KUROFES states that he has a romantic interest in Hyuga.

Tohru = Pansexual
Riko Saikawa = Lesbian

Tohru is shown to be openly in love with Kobayashi. During the second season, Thoru's sexuality is further defined when a spell gets cast on Kobayashi which turns her into a male. During this period Tohru still only stayed attracted to Kobayashi despite the fact she was no longer female. This shows that Tohru loves her no matter what and purely for her personality making her pansexual.

Riko has a very blatantly obvious infatuation with Kanna, blushing and getting flustered whenever Kanna compliments or touches her.

Honoka Maki = Bisexual

Episode 7 confirms that Honoka and Ruru's relationship wasn't strictly platonic - they both had feelings, because they were close friends and would usually act out romance scenes in the manga. Honoka refused to progress into a romantic relationship with Ruru because she feared that it will hurt more if she loses Ruru to her disease. After the whole incident, she is shown having food with Yuta, eating one bite then offering it to him. When Yuta questions as to why she did that, she says that she wants him to get fat so people will not follow him everywhere because of his good looks. Yuta gets flustered because this shows that Honoka is interested in Yuta and that she is finally moving on from Ruru.

Juzo Sakakura = Gay

Juzo Sakakura is a gay man and was romantically interested in Kyosuke Munakata. He was never displayed experiencing any form of attraction towards anyone else. Though he was incredibly loyal towards Kyosuke, he did not express any emotions that were blatantly romantic. Sakakura was closeted and deeply insecure about his sexuality, to the point where he was willing to let Junko go in order to avoid being outed. Junko captured several photos on her phone of him gazing at photos of Kyosuke as he was lying on the floor in the rain after a battle, as the Reserve Course students laughed.

Saki Watanabe = Bisexual
Shun Aonuma = Bisexual
Satoru Asahina = Bisexual
Maria Akizuki = Bisexual

During the events of Shinsekai Yori, almost all of the main cast is shown to have been in relationships with eachother. Saki and Maria dated for a while, Satoru and Shun were also shown to be in a relationship for some time. Saki and Shun were also shown to have mutual feelings for eachother before Shun's death. Maria eventually ends up marrying Mamoru and having a child with him before their deaths, Saki is married to Satoru at the end.

Slader = Gay

He admits from his first meeting with Hyphan that he is his kind of man. Moreover we learn in the bonus pages of the manga that although normally attracted to muscular and virile men, he is in love with Gowther and the author of Seven deadly sins confirmed in a Q&A Corner that Slader is homosexual.

Sailor Moon = Bisexual
Sailor Neptune = Lesbian
Sailor Uranus = Lesbian
Fish Eye = Gay
Kunzite = Gay
Zoisite = Gay

In both the manga and anime, Usagi has shown attraction to both men and women, making her bisexual.

At the San Diego Comic-Con in 1998, Naoko Takeuchi, the creator of Sailor Moon, confirmed that Sailor Neptune is a lesbian by saying that yes, Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus were intended to appear as lovers and were indeed a couple.

Fish Eye's sexuality was censored in the English dub of the show, as his character was made female. In the original Japanese version of the 90s show, Fish Eye is male. He is shown to be attracted to Mamoru.

Kunzite and Zoisite are a gay couple in the original Japanese version of the show. This was censored in the English dub as Zoisite's character was made a female so their relationship would be seen as heterosexual and "not controversial".

Homura Akemi = Lesbian
Kyoko Sakura = Lesbian/Bi
Sayaka Miki = Bisexual

Though the Rebellion movie explicitly states Homura's feelings towards Madoka to be "love", in an interview, Gen Urobuchi's response to the inquiry of whether Homura is in love with Madoka was "probably". When the inquirer asked why he decided to portray a homosexual love, Urobuchi answered that such a strong friendship had turned the nature of the relationship into a love-like one. Because Homura only shows attraction to women throughout the series and is never seen showing attraction to men, it’s surmised that she is a lesbian.

Kyoko revealed in episode 9, that she liked Sayaka because she reminded her of why she became a magical girl: Kyoko loved stories where love and courage prevail. During The Rebellion movie, her and Sayaka express their regret at not becoming better friends in the shows main timeline, And later appear to become girlfriends at the end of the third movie.

Sayaka expresses romantic interest in both men and women, initially having a crush on Kyosuke, who was also her reason to become a magical girl. She's later implied to be attracted to Kyoko, and they appear to be girlfriends at the end of the 3rd movie.

Henri Wakamiya = Gay

Henri Wakamiya is shown to while initially having issues with Masato eventually become friends with him and later in the series harbor feelings for him. He is not shown to be attracted to any female characters in the series. Although cisgender, Henri is very gender non-conforming, and has shown to wear skirts or dresses before as well as delve into makeup. When he briefly turned into a Precure, he wore a very feminine dress.

Weiss Winterprison = Lesbian
Sister Nana = Lesbian

Weiss Winterprison and Sister Nana are shown to be a couple both as magical girls and in their normal human forms.
