The original… not really not much to say other than the last 2 episodes are a bit weird, not bad or anything just weird. Most fans consider The End of Evangelion to be the canon ending so if you are really strapped for time you can skip the last two episodes (episodes 25 and 26) and dive right into End of Evangelion

This is a recap movie made due to the 2 year gap between the original Evangelion and End of Evangelion, if you are watching End of Evangelion right after the show you can just skip this since the scenes it adds don’t add much.

The sequel to Evangelion. The ending of Evangelion was odd, mostly due to budgeting problem’s, so the original ending was canned. However 2 years after Evangelion finished End of Evangelion came out which was the planned last 2 episodes now extended and in a movie format. This is considered the cannon ending by most fans and a must watch.

The first of the Rebuild of Evangelion films. This movie is basically a condensed version of the first few episodes of Evangelion, now in widescreen with digital animation as compared to the cell animation used in the original show and some cgi. There a very minor story difference which I won’t say here but overall you wouldn’t be missing much by just skipping this movie and jumping into 2.0 if you are right off the heels of watching the original Evangelion. Little side note you should watch the 1.11 version of this movie which is basically a directors cut with more scenes.

The second of the the Rebuild of Evangelion films. This is where the story divulged a lot from the original show, while if does have events ripped from the show, it usually diverges in a couple ways that change the context quite a bit. It also adds a little bit a worldbuilding for the Evangelion universe. Also, like with 1.0 watch the directors cut which is 2.22

The third of the Rebuild of Evangelion films. This is where the story basically diverges completely from the original Evangelion show and takes on a whole new identity. Like with 1.0 and 2.0 watch the directors cut 3.33.

The forth of the The rebuild of Evangelion films. I personally see this as the finale of the whole Evangelion franchise. Not much to say without spoiling, just go watch it. Like with all the other Rebuilds watch the directors cut 3.0 + 1.01.

A series of short, fully cgi, “comedy sketches” parodying Evangelion. Yeah this one’s bad don’t watch it. I will say about two thirds into it it does get slightly better but even then it’s bad.
