Add - More Blue Giant So first off, the two parts where I cried: 1. When Yukinori tells Akiko-san and the bois the good news 2. When Taira-san started crying lol Now I kinda have mixed feelings about the animation cuz on the one hand the abstract flowy / fiery art during the performances were really on point, but at the same time, the weird CGI hip thrusting was like ???? Towards the end too when Yukimori came on stage, it almost looked like there were some live action bits that didn't get animated over?? Or maybe my eyes were deceiving me. As for the rest of it, I feel like I would've appreciated this a bit more if I was a jazz nerd, but alas my jazz knowledge is limited to what little I remember from watching Sakamichi no Apollon (sooo, just Chet Baker). Have to say though, Tamada's drumming and Dai's sax sure were great for masking all the rumbling my stomach was making in the theater. Note to self: never get the buffalo chicken cheesesteak from Charleys ever again

While Bocchi is a relatable character, that doesn't make this show realistic, in the sense that she had the ungodly fortune of getting adopted by extroverts who were understanding enough to accept her for who she is. But overall, it was nice to see Bocchi grow and come out of her shell little by little.

Everything else though.... :dogekek: But like wow, great music. I'm absolutely hooked on Void rn Okay, approaching the end and maybe I've overestimated the music in this a bit. Think Void's really the only good song so far (and you can tell the studio think so too cuz the piano instrumentals play literally every ep). But also, yo wtf was ep 10, I did not expect to be hit with Nina feels after she's been such a little gremlin for the entire rest of the show. And ooof that was a rough ending. So messy and disjointed, but I guess that's just the "essence of rock" or whatever. I mean it definitely wouldn't be accurate to say that Nina ends up mellowing out... it's more like she's learned to channel her anger and frustrations out through music rather than smashing furniture LOL

Add - More Hibike! Euphonium 3 Holy hell, maybe it's that last ep bias kicking in but man did this season close everything out on a perfect note. This season truly felt like "the end" and that sense of finality was really fitting for their third and final year of high school. Only thing I could maybe gripe about is the first few eps when everyone and their dog are coming to Kumiko with every single little bit of interpersonal drama. Like okay, I get it, they gotta show that Kumiko's got big shoes to fill as the new club prez and that she's in way over her head, but good lord almighty did they really need to lay it on that thick? I was legit getting second-hand anxiety just from watching Kumiko try to juggle everything coming her way. But even then, it just goes to show how well Kumiko's emotions and internal turmoil came across that I could empathize with it so viscerally. On that note, I'm just going to list out all the things I fuckin' loved about this season (again with last ep bias): The scene leading up to the announcement of the national competition results, just hearing the defining measures of the competition songs from each year sent a shiver down my spine. So fitting that Kumiko would become a music teacher at Kitauji. Love how they alluded to it from as early as the first few eps when she first got her career survey. Honestly feel like the moment that probably sealed it for Kumiko was when she was talking to Azusa about her future career plans though. Mayu was a character I was iffy about at first, but I think in the end she serves as a pretty good foil for Kumiko while not being an exact 1:1 to Kumiko's past self. Including the above, I just loved the recurring theme of cycles and time just repeating itself. From the song that they ended up choosing as their competition piece, to Taki-sensei's comments about the Sisyphean task of instructing a high school wind ensemble, to all the flashbacks to parallel situations facing the Kitauji band's former members, to the ending animation, all these callbacks just add so much depth to this world and I absolutely adored every second of it. Countless other things that wouldn't fit here. Or maybe the anime equivalent of that restaurant where they served that "puree" nonsense in a plaster mold of the chef's mouth. God, this just wholeheartedly is the embodiment of pretentiously "deep" 90s/early 2000s anime that I absolutely abhor. And the best part is, all of that "depth" gets lost when your ultimate message takes a generic shonen manga turn and becomes about the power of love and friendship. Barf.

In EP2 MC was using his head a little, but after watching him pour all his skill points into strength... turns out he's just a simpleminded dork with some really twisted worldviews. Each passing EP just seems to reinforce this further. Rant incoming: Okay, how in the world can anyone derive enjoyment from watching an MC who's so asinine to the point of self-detriment? What do you MEAN you didn't bother looking into equipping gear until 11 eps in? How did you let the monsters knock the teleportation stone out of your hand not once, but twice? Why do you keep putting all your skill points into everything *but* intelligence? When faced with moral quandaries, do you even take a second to stop and think about the implications of your actions? Why do you claim that you want to keep a low profile until you solve the mystery of your newfound powers and yet end up doing things that are the exact opposite of low profile? Are you even trying to figure out the meaning behind the system? OH. MY. GOD. *screams into the void* I feel so bad for ever making the comparison between this and Omniscient Reader. Basic premise aside, they aren't even remotely the same thing. Oh, of course he becomes a necromancer/"shadow monarch" ugh can you get any edgier??

Like it was pretty disturbing the first time he did it, but the fact that when the second time happened, everyone else was just like "oh, yeah, it's all chill, just make sure he doesn't have to fight again" like what??? And then the fact that Min clearly retained his personality/consciousness/some aspect of his original soul just makes the fact that Iron is still being controlled by Jinwoo all the more disturbing

The juxtaposition of the badass infiltration scene + the control room with the cutesy stuffed animals. Why tf are these girls just eating spices? Who tf licks someone they just became friends with? ToT At least the OST is pretty banger. And ngl, this kinda is giving me a poor man's Railgun vibe, so at least it's tiding me over til S4 xD Okay, 4 eps in and I feel like I'm starting to get a better grasp of wtf is going on in the show. The most accurate way I can describe it is that it's like someone went and threw as many cliches and tropes from both spy action flicks and CGDCT anime into a pot as they could, and then they went to add in a bit of randomness for spice (ha) but it ended up like the opening sequence of the Powerpuff Girls where the prof ended up dumping too much Chemical X into his concoction. I'll be real, the last 3 eps straight up saved this series. Holy shit.

Add - More Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau Gotta say, did not expect the Shiho arc to start so quickly. Man, it's so depressing knowing that we hit the peak at ep 6 and it's all downhill from here. LOL can't believe they actually made Laureley's song so unbelievably edgy, fits that drama llama Shiho to a tee Okay, final thoughts on this absolute trainwreck: I'll be honest, I thought the manga was not that great as it were, but somehow this anime makes the manga look even *worse*. The one part that stood out to me was Aki's monologue before the SS Girl's final song at the school festival. I honestly didn't remember it feeling so long and overdrawn when I read the manga, but in the anime it felt *painfully* long. Like srsly, what's with the long ass speech/confession right in the middle of your school festival performance, Aki? Okay, I went back and timed it, from when Aki says "Can I have a minute of your time?" to "There, I said my piece" it was nearly 2.5 mins. So much for a "minute" pfffft. But yeah that aside, the pacing was atrocious because they were trying to hamfist the Shiho/Aki arc and everything leading up to it within into a single cour, and of course there's the complaints about the powerpoint "animation". Did they really think they could redeem themselves by ending the season with a HimaYori kiss scene? All in all, a terrible experience and I would *never* recommend this to anybody.

But I guess I should've prepared for it when Mio kept on asking when they were gonna have sex. Second of all, this is literally "Gay Panic - The Movie". Shun is such a blockhead, it's infuriating. Like HOW do you go from "oh look at dat qt lonely boi, lemme get dat ass" to "oh noes I gave him the gei cooties, time to emotionally detach myself from him in a way that hurts all parties involved" within the span of, okay, admittedly three years, but still. I guess it's more of a testament of how weird the pacing in this movie was than anything, but whatever. p.s. At least the yuri side couple was a nice surprise lol. Though that makes Shun's actions all the more confusing because it's like, c'mon dude, you've got an exemplar of how a queer relationship can be successful right in front of you, but you're still going to deny yourself?

I think the introduction of Usui as the big bad felt pretty contrived and he honestly lacked any solid motive for his villainy. Not a huge fan of villains who are just evil for the sake of being evil. And before anyone yells at me about his motives being driven by Sumi and the Usuba clan and whatnot, like no. He's literally the equivalent of those psycho kids IRL who go around abusing animals to get a hit of cruel satisfaction.
