The official X (formerly Twitter) of the Nemuki magazine announced a television anime adaptation of Ichiko Ima's Hyakki Yakoushou (Beyond Twilight) manga on Friday. The anime is scheduled to premiere in April 2026.

Ima began serializing the supernatural horror manga in Nemuki magazine in 1995 before transferring it to Nemuki+ when the former ceased publication in December 2012. Asahi Shimbun Publications released the 31st volume in April 2024, with the 32nd volume set to be shipped on April 7.

Aurora Publishing licensed the manga in English and released the first volume in June 2010 before the company folded the same year.

Hyakki Yakoushou won the Excellence Award at the 10th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2006.

Synopsis
Since birth, Ritsu has inherited the ability to see spirits and demons from his novelist grandfather, a sort of sixth sense. However, when his grandfather passes away, he loses the protection he had when under his care and ends up forming a contract with a demon named Blue Storm. (Source: Aurora Publishing)

A manga that started 31 years ago is finally getting an anime. And it has 31 volumes so far too, so 1 volume per year.
