Bandai Namco you massacred our beloved show.

Just let the show die peacefully. I can't bare to see you kill it so profusely each week. Just let it end, offer Saitama and Garo some solace and hand over the IP license to a company that will do it justice - I don't care if it's Netflix, Crunchyroll or hell Disney. I'd rather watch Disney's version of a live adaptation of one punch man than whatever this abomination is.

The only reason I'm not giving a one is out of respect for our ONE punch man.

Are you a healthy, hard working adult? If so then I would stay clear of this show at all costs, it may actually cost your health. Otherwise come watch this show, it's a free one way trip to getting you diagnosed with diabetes! The demon king's daughter is indeed too kind! You'll ingest so much sweetness that within no time at all you'll have to start getting yourself a stockpile of insulin to survive this show without dying.

Aside from the sweetness, this show doesn't have too much else to offer. It can be pretty funny, but it's mostly cute and sweet. 7/10, Very sweet, ...

The single greatest work I have ever seen, everything from ep 1 all the way to the end comes together perfectly and it is mind-blowing ESPECIALLY on a rewatch (on my 3rd rewatch and playing the VN as of right now). Steins Gate starts off comedic, confusing, silly and slightly mysterious. during those first few episodes you get to briefly know and build a connection to the "important" characters and their personalities which where all very unique and lovable to me, as well as minor hints that there is something major going on behind the scenes.

Tremenda mielda de final wtf. Me gusto la animacion y algunos personajes, otros me cayeron como el coño. Es malo, no le doy horrible porque me da penita ponerle eso. Solo dire que el lore es decente.

Well... The title didn't lie one bit.So at the very least i admire their honesty.

It's isekai.It's an OP Main character. The setup on it's own when it all starts isn't anything different. It becomes something more on the way. I honestly very much despise op MCs. I care not for the reasoning.Having them never break a sweat is just not something that moves me in any way shape or form.Now... From what i've understood this first season was actually rushed.And honestly i can say.Im quite certain we were supposed to see far more of Hajime's descent until he finds Yue. And the manga covers that(again ... from what i've heard).And it's detrimental to the story.

Now.... Let's talk about the MC a little..... Honestly he's very mid.On one hand i appreciate the fact he doesn't spare his enemies so he can fight them again after some time. It's a lazy writing method and it makes the story redundant when nobody suffers any consequences. On the other.... The way he uses his powers is so boring... GUNS... Really breaks the fantasy immersion when he keeps using all that modern day tech.... The guns,the cars,even a god damn hair dryer. And that again is somewhat lazy and uninspired. What's the point of going for the isekai genre when you want your MC to shoot guns?

The supporting characters are intresting to varying degrees. And i mean that quite literally because they are all over the place.From walking clichees like Tio and Hero Boy to..... Not much else really. As far as his harem members go... it's a fail from me.All of them are instantly into Hajime.I'd excuse Yue since she's been isolated for centuries and im certain she would've settled for absolutely anybody who rescued her.And Shirasaki i guess since she's been into him even before they reached this place.It was a long standing situation. Other then that... Yeah... far too rushed.We'll see in future seasons if they actually develop any of them but until then it's a meh.

Now.... The animation... Jesus christ is it terrible.CGI .... CGI everywhere..... I have no clue who first came up with the ideea to use CGI in a 2D animation but it just won't work.And it looks lazy and just hurts my eyes.Even when most of the animation was him shooting his guns they still used 90% CGI...

Honestly im very conflicted on this one.There's plenty of ideeas that are good but also plenty that are just detrimental and outright terrible.

Oh and sidenote since i've seen someone compare this to solo leveling and called it a failed attempt at that.... It's still hundreds of times better then Solo Leveling from a story standpoint.Mainly because Solo Leveling has literally no story and no characters,so it's not a hard bar to surpass.

I can still recommend it at the very least as a good show to pass the time,since while i personally hate guns in fantasy there's probably plenty of people with bad taste that enjoy that sorta things.

Champignon no Majo feels like watching a story gently unfold, almost as if someone is narrating a tale page by page. It reminded me a lot of shoujo anime from around 2009, at least that was the impression it gave me.

The story follows a witch named Lua, a very kind and gentle character who, despite that, is not welcomed by humans. Because of this, she is forced to live in isolation, unable to interact with people. To put it simply, the anime is quite dramatic, but not in a negative way, just a bit persistent during the first few episodes.

I’ve watched some bad anime in my time but this takes the cake for me.

The writing (or at least the “localization”) is way too political and reads like a string of nonsensical opinions taken directly from Reddit and 4Chan. The premise is kinda ridiculous to begin with but we live in an era where an anime about a dude being reincarnated as a vending machine is somewhat popular so I was willing to look past that but there really isn’t a shred of substance or deep-thinking (which wouldn’t be an issue if this series wasn’t trying to pretend like there is).

While there where the tell tale signs of some lose ends forming, the bulk of the story's delicate themes were handled masterfully, with a very detailed psychological analysis of the characters which gave the show both a lot of intrigue and depth

However it completely lost me in the last few episodes
What was meant to be a very emotional twist completely derailed the developement that was built thus far, creating more lose ends than ever all whilst certain characters personalities take a complete 180 and bad behaviour gets way too romanticized for my taste

Monogatari Series: Off & Monster Season Episode 6.5, Zankoku Douwa: Utsukushi-hime (The Cruel Fairy Tale: The Beautiful Princess), is more of a concentrated storytelling experience than a typical episode of an anime series. Instead of being a part of the ongoing narrative, it serves as a mythological origin story for Shinobu Oshino, stripping away her usual, playful personality to expose the terrifying deity of Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade in its most raw and unadulterated form.

In terms of visuals, the episode ditches the fast-paced SHAFT editing style in favor of a more conservative and storybook-like approach. The pop-out book style of the episode gives each scene a ... layered, almost three-dimensional quality, as if the viewer is turning the pages of a haunted fairy tale. The use of bright, vibrant colors is in stark contrast to the minimalist backgrounds, giving the episode a misleading sense of beauty that belies the crushing cruelty of the tale that is being told. The effect is both striking and chilling, making the horror seem almost inevitable rather than shocking.

The thing that makes this episode so effective is its take on the existence of Kiss-Shot. This is not just a tragic tale of woe, but rather an explanation for her deep and abiding loneliness. Her beauty is not depicted as a gift or even a curse, but rather as an existential weight. People do not just admire her; they lose themselves completely, abandoning all reason, all agency, and ultimately all life itself simply by looking upon her. The implication is that her loneliness was never just an emotional thing, but a metaphysical one as well.

The narration is also an essential element in achieving this effect. It is calm, distant, and rhythmic, with the weight of history behind it, telling gruesome events with the same rhythm as an ancient fairy tale that has been passed down through the ages. This distance also serves to emphasize the notion that what transpired was inevitable, as if the world itself could not tolerate her presence. The animation also helps to achieve this by only using fluid and graceful animation when it is absolutely necessary, leaving the narration and the visuals to do the heavy lifting.

Ultimately, the episode also manages to convey the notion that her transformation into a vampire was not a degradation, but perhaps the only way for the world to cope with the presence of a beauty that was simply too much for humanity to handle. In this regard, Episode 6.5 is one of the most chilling episodes in the entire Monogatari series, reminding the audience that its “monsters” are not necessarily evil, but rather the product of an excess of purity that the world simply cannot handle.

Follow up: Based on the synopsis and opening credits alone, it is clear what the ending is going to be, so I don’t think there is much point in treating this overview of mine as if it were a spoiler-filled one. For fans of dark, gothic storytelling with a focus on vampiric lore, Dance in the Vampire Bund is definitely an easy recommendation.

I think that in a market where there is a bit of an oversaturation of "otome player reincarnated as villain with bad fate but resists yet doesn't ever realize they have escaped being a villainess", this anime is such a breath of fresh air, especially Alicia as a character. Instead of avoiding being a villainess, she actively strives towards it. By no means is it the holy grail of anime, but it was very enjoyable and the plot was more interesting than i would have thought. The art style of this film was very fitting, and amazingly executed, with jaw dropping scenes with beautiful colors.

The story was slightly predictable, but still majorly unique. Their character progression was very satisfactory

The distinct characterization of all of the characters is very well-rounded, their unique personalities feel thought out, and they all have their flaws.

The characters' reactions to the events of the film never felt out of character, although some slightly unrealistic reactions for comedic/plot reasons were made, they never felt unsatisfactory.

This anime is amazing from first episode to last, I loved this anime very much and I will be waiting for a season 2! This is a "good" show so far, and I completely understand why it stands out, but it is insane that this can be even considered remotely comparable to anything on MAL top 50 or even 200. Unfortunately, S2 took everything bad about S1 and amplified it.

The vision is fabulous. If Frieren actually achieved its intention of being a calm, thoughtful fantasy experience focused on exploring heartwarming connection against the backdrop of magical wonder I would genuinely rate it a 10... but unfortunately its semi-powerful moments are spoiled by the fact that most of the actual screen time is slop and the writing garbage absolutely devoid ... of creativity, instead speedrunning ever SoL trope. It manages to lack both the depth, impact, and character development of a proper slow burn show, the face-value enjoyment of a fast paced shonen, or the humor of a good SoL... making it mostly dull.

At times it excels at the main goal it is trying to achieve as an exploratory fantasy experience. In that sense it feels like a breath of fresh air. Instead of fighting anything that moves and powerscaling, Frieren's perspective is a reflective one appreciative of the small things in life and her relationships with others, which in this case usually include both delightful fantasy elements and some deeper understanding of human connection. This approach is balanced with gorgeous animation for both scenery and for some flashy fights, while the focus is kept on the bigger picture of appreciating what it means to be alive in the limited time we have. Certain moments in the show blend the wonder of exploring every nook and cranny in a Zelda game with the humanity of Undertale, or wandering around a forest as a child with your friends. There are enough lovely moments like these for this to be overall a solid show, whether it is when Frieren gets excited a minor fantasy detail, or is contemplating what her comrades mean to her, or just when we hit some cool shonen style bossfight.

But here is the issue, Frieren is mainly a slow-paced character driven story, and if your characters suck your character driven story will suck. The potential for a mature and enchanting adventure is generally ruined by a cast of boring 1D or 2D characters with fake depth combined with chains of mainly completely uninteresting side quests that lead to superficial messages. The cast is somehow overly silly yet oppressively reserved. Fern is utterly devoid of personality, Stark is a pushover, Himmel is a bot, and Frieren is generally completely ambivalent to everything. Dynamic characters? Hell no, they remain the same for the whole series and so do their key internal conflict if they have one. They somehow manage to be neither mature and insightful or unhinged and spontaneous, just consistently bland. As a character Frieren's writing alone in certain instances is both powerful and surprisingly comical, but 90% of the time her lack of passion makes for a boring watch. Most of the slice of life style humor is also incredibly unfunny and forced, but most importantly it completely spoils the magic of what this slow burn fantasy could be. Instead of playing to its strengths and exploring fantastical elements more deeply with a cast of realistic characters to convey beauty in the mundane, the show decides to focus on trash dialogue that fails to even touch the surface of conveying the beauty of their relationships, completely falling flat nearly every sentence. Playing into slice of life tropes for a meditative show is a mistake.

Good animation can't save some of its absolutely mind-numbing writing. A whole episode of hiking and sauna sim for the sake of an absolutely superficial message and under 3 seconds of "oh kinda heartwarming"? Going from glowing cave to getting worked up over a date? Meet with NPC ah noble to get sword, aaaand thats it boom an episode? The magic the show has in its best moments is absolutely shattered by the most mindless filler arc writing known to man without the perks of any form of character development or a sliver of emotional intelligence. Why try to blend Konosuba's humor with Made in Abyss's worldbuilding with the emotional depth of Violet Evergarden when Frieren manages to excel at none of them? Taking your time to explore relationships and fantasy only works when the writing for the characters and world are actually thoughtful and good. The slow burn fantasy and adventure letter of love it should be is instead uninteresting slice of life slop in a minimally explored fantasy setting with some nice production.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy this show and it scratches an itch at times, pretty chill watch while drinking tea before bed, but how this could be considered better than a show like Samurai Champloo or Mushishi or Cowboy Bebop absolutely blows my mind. The difference in writing quality alone is absurd, especially with regards to their characters, the exact facet Frieren tries to explore the most. This is like comparing The Very Hungry Caterpillar to Tolkien or Tolstoy. And on another level of cinema are shows which are truly art: a cute "thoughtful"TM clean fantasy animation sim with some flashy action could never compare to the creativity of the direction of JoJo or Tatami galaxy or NGE or Ghibli or Soul Eater, it is not even close. And the fights themselves are at best comparable to any top shounen, and this is arguably less fun to watch. If you are obsessed with fantasy and need something safe and fresh then fine this is your show, but it really stops there. A show that excels at being comfortingly mid in a fantasy world over everything else when it is neither as comforting or emotionally rich as hundreds of other anime should not touch the leaderboard, go get a fantasy themed blanket or something lmao this is by no means a masterpiece and neither was the source material.

I found Violet Evergarden to be a story about self-discovery and connection, following Violet as she sets upon her journey in her new life as herself. She is an orphan who knew nothing of normalcy, unable to understand beyond her life as a living weapon on the battlefield. Now in peacetime, she must find her place in the world and at the same time learn about the connections that tie people together all while understanding what it means to be human, to have a heart.

Story/Writing:
The overall story is broken down into multiple smaller subplots, typically spanning a single episode focusing on a particular event/side ... character. They serve to guide Violet through her journey of self-discovery and progress her understanding of human emotion. It is easy to follow the events that are happening as the plots themselves are simple by design, serving primarily as vehicles for Violet’s inner development. These subplots typically have their own focus, looking into surface level human emotions from others, feelings, such as anger, frustration and happiness but also sometimes looking into more complex themes such as confronting trauma, handling loss, and closure. The episodes always involve understanding love in some of the many ways it can be seen such as through family, lovers, aspirations and most importantly, within oneself.
The worldbuilding in the series is established in episode 1 and gradually built upon throughout the course of the story. The pacing of the subplots throughout the series is in my opinion one of the strongest aspects of the series, it understands how to gradually build emotional capital within characters throughout the story which makes the events of each climax have a heightened impact.
The themes and moods of the series do occasionally shift between the episodes. Some are happy, bittersweet, melancholic, gratifying, or fulfilling, so while the mood can vary between episodes, the series is still grounded in emotional sincerity. And through the combination of storytelling, music and cinematography the series delivers some of the strongest emotions that I have personally experienced watching anything.

Characters:
It is my own opinion that any form of media, be it music, movies, TV shows, anime, and paintings, all serve the purpose of inciting emotion. Violet Evergarden captures feelings of loneliness, relief, sadness and closure to name a few, and is delivered through Violet herself and the supporting cast. The characters within Violet Evergarden are built up, relying on direct, indirect, and non-verbal storytelling methods, which when combined provides subtle, dense, and natural feeling character progression.
The characters are complex, we as the audience are given the opportunity to know about them on their innermost level and the relations they have with others within the story, all the interactions between them feel in character and serve a purpose in forwarding the story. As a viewer, the emotional investment and attachment I felt towards Violet is incomparable to any other character I’ve ever seen. Being a first-hand witness to her growth through her journey and all she has gone through has developed an unparalleled attachment which persists during and after the series. The side characters in the series were also able to be effectively developed in their limited screentime, giving the audience a high level of emotional investment into them, before reaching their conclusions by the end of each episode. Overall, the characters share the trait of having significant emotional attachment to another character(s), and with the focus of the story being Violet’s emotional and inner growth, it’s the tragedy and mending of these inter-character relations that build upon her, providing us, the audience with a plethora of characters who all carry with them significant emotional weight for us to experience.

Animation/Sound Design:
Kyoto Animation delivered another in a long line of visual art wonders, the creative direction amplified the emotional magnitude of scenes, through the efforts of framing, composition, cinematic cuts, and subtle pauses. The quality of animation is also of the highest standard, fluid, articulating character motions and smooth camera movements, realistic wind, and fabric effects, consideration of foreground elements and soft lighting, all these elements put together make it a complete visual experience. The art style of the series is something I found very appealing, soft lines, in a semi-modern setting, filled with vibrant colours and beauty, every episode has multiple visually striking sceneries to take in and the visual design of the characters, especially Violet is nothing short of breathtaking. This combination of animation quality and art style are what make Violet Evergarden a visual masterpiece able to convey and amplify intense emotion through visuals alone.
The original voice acting is phenomenal, in every scene Violet’s emotions are being poured out and heightened by the voice acting, this could also be said about the voice acting of the supporting characters, especially the VA for Claudia Hodgins, Takehito Koyasu.
Evan Call deserves all the credit he receives for the Violet Evergarden soundtrack, it doesn’t simply support the emotional storytelling in front of us, but it enhances it, intensifies it across the wide range of emotions that are felt throughout the series.

Closing Statement:
Overall, the story of Violet Evergarden is beautiful from so many angles, it’s a visual masterpiece with the creative direction from Kyoto Animation elevating the story, bringing life to the world and Violet’s journey. Evan Call’s score for this series is nothing short of perfection. The storytelling knows how to set up characters and a narrative, build toward a climax garnering emotional investment from the audience, then execute, delivering waves of intense emotion each episode with devastating effect and consistency.
I personally have no caveats, this series is unimprovable to me. Nearly every aspect on its own can be seen to have been given meticulous attention and is a work to behold and appreciate in isolation, combined they all elevate each other and produce the masterpiece before us.
I would recommend this series to anyone who has a deep appreciation for aspects such as music, character development, and more advanced directing tools such as camera angles/framing etc. And I would strongly recommend this story to anyone who wants to experience emotional storytelling and soul-seeking.
Those viewers who find themselves seeking an action/spectacle-driven story, constant positive, feel-good moments or faster pacing might want to put this series on hold for the time being.

A beautifully done anime that isn't afraid to jump into exploring some of the most horrific themes around mental health, trauma and bullying. The characters are well constructed, not having any one person you can absolutely hate (other than the parents), and the contrast between bright Takopi and the bleak surroundings only serves to further highlight how horrific the situations truly are.

I'm going to try to keep this as short as possible, with no major spoilers.

First of all, I just want to say I can understand why people dislike this show. It's certainly not for everyone. It has many flaws, and its certainly nowhere close to perfect. But, despite this, it also has a lot of things that it does RIGHT, which is why I am still giving it a 10.

Lets talk about the flaws first. The animation isn't amazing. If you waltz into the show expecting jjk style visuals, you're going to be disappointed. But the thing is, you get used to after a while ... and forget about it after a few episodes. And its not *bad* bad, its just... mid.

Another major flaw that some would argue that this show has is its harem aspect. Now this... is not entirely true. The MC clearly prioritizes ONE girl from the start, and does NOT change his mind about her throughout the show (or in this season atleast, I have not watched the other seasons so I can't say the same about them). There's no indecisive bs like in most other harem animes people tend to watch. Yes, some of the other girls cling on to him for a bit, but he does NOT change his mind. He's locked in with his partner. And thats what I really like about this MC.

Now, lets talk about what this show does right. there are two main things that stood out to me, which is why I enjoyed this show so much.

The first is the character growth and development. (Almost) all of the characters in this anime go through some form of major change or adaptation throughout the course of the show. The MC starts off as a useless nobody and ends up becoming a total badass by the end of the show. And he EARNS that power, which differentiates it from people like Kazuto Kirigaya. You actually SEE his struggle and his will and determination to grow stronger, which lets you, as the watcher, actually view his growth throughout the show.

The second is how loveable and admirable some of the characters in this show are. If you are someone that gets attached to characters easily, or doesn't get easily annoyed by side characters, then you will absolutely enjoy this anime. The three main girls in the MC's party each have their own unique and admirable qualities to them, and even if a couple of them DO start out a bit obnoxious, you gradually begin to like them more and more. And as I said before, they mature and grow throughout the MC's journey.

The first 5 and last 3 episodes are the undoubtedly the best, as the middle episodes are more filler and definitely aren't as engaging. Nonetheless, this is still a great show, and I think people judge its flaws more than its strengths for sure.
