Light Novel 'Sekai Saikyou no Kouei: Meikyuukoku no Shinjin Tansakusha' Gets TV Anime
Production company Kadokawa opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Touwa Akatsuki's Sekai Saikyou no Kouei: Meikyuukoku no Shinjin Tansakusha (The World's Strongest Rearguard: Labyrinth Country's Novice Seeker) light novel on Monday, revealing an announcement visual (pictured).Akatsuki began penning the action fantasy novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in April 2017. Kadokawa began publishing the novel with illustrations by Huuka Kazabana in November 2017 and published the eighth volume in November 2021, with the ninth volume scheduled for a September 10 release. Sekai Saikyou no Kouei: Meikyuukoku no Shinjin Tansakusha has a cumulative 1.7 million copies of its volume in circulation.
Rikizou began drawing a manga adaptation on the ComicWalker (now Kadocomi) platform in March 2018. Kadokawa shipped the ninth volume on February 21.
Yen Press licensed the manga and light novel for English release in March 2019 . The eighth manga volume was released on July 22, and the eighth novel volume was published in June 2023.
Synopsis
Workaholic assistant Atobe Arihito fell asleep on his company's bus while on a vacation. When he awoke he learned he had died due to the bus getting into an accident, and that he had reincarnated into a world of reincarnators—to the Labyrinth Country. To his surprise, he was discovered by his slave-driving manager, Igarashi Kyouka, who further explains their role in this world.
In Labyrinth Country, reincarnators are expected to choose a job and form parties to fight against monsters in Labyrinths. Kyouka had expected Arihito to work with her once again, but he declines due to his knowledge of her demanding nature. As they depart she vows to make him regret not choosing her. And thus starts Arihito's adventure as a "Rearguard." (Source: Novel Updates)
