Publishing company Hakusensha announced on Thursday that Mizuho Kusanagi's Akatsuki no Yona (Yona of the Dawn) manga will end in three chapters. The 276th and final chapter will be published in the second 2026 issue of Hana to Yume on December 19, marking the end of the manga's 16-year run.

Kusanagi began drawing the fantasy romance manga in Hana to Yume in August 2009. Hakusensha published the 46th volume on June 20, with the 47th volume scheduled to release February 20, 2026. Akatsuki no Yona has a cumulative 15 million copies of its volumes in print.

Studio Pierrot adapted the manga into a 24-episode television anime in Fall 2014. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with English subtitles. Three original video anime were bundled with the limited edition versions of the 19th, 20th, and 21st volumes, released from September 2015 to December 2016.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in October 2015. The 44th volume went on sale on June 3, with the 45th scheduled to release on December 2.

Synopsis
Once upon a time, the kingdom of Kouka was ruled by a red dragon in human form. By his side, four warriors imbued with dragon blood helped him lead the kingdom to prosperity. Time passed, and this tale became a legend to tell children.

As the sole princess of Kouka, Yona lives a life of lavish ease. In love with her cousin, Su-won, and protected by her bodyguard, Son Hak, she wants for nothing and remains sheltered from the harrowing reality outside the castle walls. Contrary to this peaceful illusion, Kouka is about to undergo a political upheaval. After her beloved Su-won stages a bloody coup and murders her father, Yona is forced to flee with only Hak by her side.

Though surrounded by enemies on all sides, the banished princess still yearns to save her kingdom. Her solution comes from an exiled priest, who tells her that her only hope is to find the four legendary dragon warriors. Guided by this seemingly fictitious myth, Yona sets out to find these warriors, determined to restore her kingdom. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I only began reading Yona a few years ago, but it's already one of my favorite Shojo ever. I'll be sad to see it go.

@wildhood Finally someone told the truth. The anime was a flop, there is a few good shoujo animes, but most of them are flops.

damn, it's been a long journey, this means only 3 more volumes for me and that i'll probably finish it by the end of 2026 or maybe a bit later depending on when they get printed.

been following the manga's official releases for many years now, a bit hard to believe that it's coming to an end, one of my all time favorites for sure.

got my fingers crossed for a happy ending and hopefully a satisfying one at that.

@wildhood idk how you can argue that. The animation was solid, the characters were p good, there was obvious momentum in the story to continue. They need to make another season

Never give up.

Too bad Pierrot is too busy adapting the mediocrity that is Bleach though.

Akatsuki no Yona anime is a flop. That's why it never got a second season and will never get one. The first blu-ray volume was released on 29 April 2015, and that first blu-ray volume only sold 1,820 copies in its first week of release, which means it failed. Shoujo anime tend to always flop, unless it's Kimi ni Todoke, Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon, which are the few that are successful.

where is my season 2?

Oh, the manga will end, but its previous anime adaptation needs a sequel (a season 2). This was one of the shoujo anime that I truly enjoyed. :s
