The global livestream event for the anime adaptation of the seventh part of Hirohiko Araki's JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) manga series, Steel Ball Run, revealed main cast, additional staff, and a teaser promotional video on Tuesday. The anime is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Netflix in 2026.

Cast
Johnny Joestar: Shougo Sakata (Chainsaw Man)
Gyro Zeppeli: Youhei Azakami (Kamonohashi Ron no Kindan Suiri)
Diego Brando: Kaito Ishikawa (One Punch Man)
Lucy Steel: Rie Takahashi (Fate/Grand Order)
Steven Steel: Kenta Miyake (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

Minoru Murao (Kingdom 3rd Season), Grand Guerrilla (Undead Unluck animation director), Yui Kinoshita (JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 5: Ougon no Kaze animation director), and Chii are joining the staff as sub-character designers.

Yasuhiro Kimura (JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 5: Ougon no Kaze) and Hideya Takahashi (Keijo!!!!!!!!) are directing the anime, with Toshiyuki Katou (JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 6: Stone Ocean) serving as series director. Yasuko Kobayashi (Dororo) is handling the series composition, while Daisuke Tsumagari (Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai chief animation director) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director. Yugo Kanno (Pluto) is composing the music. The anime is being produced at David Production.

Araki launched the action adventure manga series with the first part, Phantom Blood, in Weekly Shounen Jump in 1986. The second through six part—Sentou Chouryuu (Battle Tendency), Stardust Crusaders, Diamond wa Kudakenai (Diamond Is Unbreakable), Ougon no Kaze (Golden Wind), and Stone Ocean—ran in the same magazine between 1987 and 2003.

The eighth part, JoJolion, ended in August 2021 in Ultra Jump after a ten-year run. Shueisha published the 27th and final volume in September that year.

The JoJoLands, the ninth part of the manga series, debuted in Ultra Jump in February 2023. Shueisha released the sixth and latest volume on July 17.

David Production adapted the first six parts into anime series with the most recent, Stone Ocean, streaming in three installments on Netflix in December 2021, September 2022, and December 2022. VIZ Media released the anime on two Blu-ray volumes in January and September 2024.

VIZ Media published the second volume of Steel Ball Run on July 22, with the third and fourth volumes scheduled for release on September 23 and November 25, respectively.

@Softhenic03 Wait till everything is out like wait 3 years then watch!
People get too narrow minded about talking weekly with anime...

Good and fitting cast, except Gyro. I prefer Shinichiro Miki's voice. Or maybe I just got used to it? Up until now, Gyro could only be heard in video games.

As for the trailer... Wow, it looks rough and bland. Ironically, the element that many have been worried about the most over the years doesn't look half bad, compared to those wacky looking still frames or poorly animated sequences (even going by general JoJo anime standards; plus, again, it's a trailer - it should look good, lol). I'm talking about CGI horses, btw.

I'm wondering what this anime itself will look like if a trailer, meant to promote it, looks that underwhelming.

This getting the batch release treatment is much much worse than horses running in CGI tbh.

@RippleLover im fine with good cgi for when they need to show alot of horses in 1 frame but for just 1 or 2 horses in some of the important parts i have high hopes itll be all 2d, but the anime still a year from coming out so can still be fully 2d

@Yubisoft Well, like Araki said in on interview ''jojo is all about beautiful men'' lol

Sep 24, 2025 11:41 AM by Tekakurika

Do all women on this Jojo part look goofy like tge woman above.? Because if only the men are handsome and tge women like moles, I am out.

This really gave me a very bad first impression...

Also, not having Koyasu as Diego is **cking criminal!

If we take into account Netflix as well, I'm very pessimistic about this adaptation...

this is one of the best parts, yet looks one of the most bland. c'mon man david prod. what are we doing.

IT LOOKS SO GOOD. I hope they release the episodes in batches as it is a much better format!

The animation looks really rough which is disappointing. The VA cast so far sounds great so far but I don't like Kaito Ishikawa as Diego that much. Still excited though, soundtrack sounds pretty good too.

Youhei Azakami getting casted as one of the most iconic JJBA characters was not something I ever expected, but it is something that I am beyond excited for!!! He's such a great fit for Gyro and I'm really happy to be hearing him in a more eccentric role again. My hype for this adaptation just increased by a thousandfold! (☆▽☆)

Horses turn CGI the second they start racing, as expected.

Wish it looked better

This looks incredibly flat, Naokatsu Tsuda was the director from part 1- 5 and it feels like with part 6 onward lacking him there this noticeable drop in quality and style that looks even worse here, couple that with it being destined to be a netflix binge drop probably in multiple parts like 6 and we got ourself a recipe for hype killing.

This fucking sucks man, part 7 deserves a weekly release and at least a serviceable production.

This the cheapest looking part yet. Hopefully they're not done yet, because this looks like shit.

Rieri in a JoJo anime, nice.
